Mia tem seis anos. Ela tem um ursinho. O ursinho se chama Brumm. Ele é marrom e macio, e tem só uma orelha. Brumm está sempre com Mia: na hora de comer, na hora de brincar e de noite.
Mia is six years old. She has a teddy. The teddy is called Brumm. He is brown and soft, and he has only one ear. Brumm is always with Mia: when she eats, when she plays and at night.
Hoje Mia e papai vão de trem até a casa da vovó. A viagem é longa. Duas horas! Mia fica sentada perto da janela. Brumm fica sentado na mesa. Eles veem vacas, árvores e um rio.
Today Mia and Dad are going to Grandma’s by train. The journey is long. Two hours! Mia sits by the window. Brumm sits on the table. They see cows, trees and a river.
Uma mulher passa pelo trem. Ela usa uma jaqueta azul e um quepe. É a cobradora. “As passagens, por favor!”
A woman comes through the train. She is wearing a blue jacket and a cap. She is the conductor. “Tickets, please!”
Papai mostra as passagens. A cobradora vê Brumm e dá risada. “E o ursinho? Ele também tem passagem?”
Dad shows the tickets. The conductor sees Brumm and laughs. “And the teddy? Does he have a ticket too?”
“Não”, diz Mia. “Ele ainda é pequeno.” “Então está tudo bem”, diz a cobradora. “Boa viagem!”
“No,” says Mia. “He’s still little.” “Then it’s okay,” says the conductor. “Have a good trip!”
Mia fica com sono. Ela fecha os olhos. Ela dorme.
Mia gets tired. She closes her eyes. She falls asleep.
“Mia! Acorda! Chegamos!” Papai pega as malas. Mia pega a jaqueta dela. Rápido, rápido! Eles descem. O trem vai embora.
“Mia! Wake up! We’re here!” Dad takes the bags. Mia takes her jacket. Quick, quick! They get off. The train goes on.
Vovó está na plataforma. “Oi, Mia! Oi, Brumm!” Mia olha para as mãos dela. Tem só a jaqueta. Nenhum Brumm.
Grandma is standing on the platform. “Hello, Mia! Hello, Brumm!” Mia looks at her hands. There is only the jacket. No Brumm.
“Brumm!”, grita Mia. “Brumm está no trem!” Mas o trem já foi embora.
“Brumm!” shouts Mia. “Brumm is on the train!” But the train is gone.
