Mais Bruno déteste une chose. Il déteste l’eau. Il déteste la baignoire. Et il déteste le mot « bain ».

Aujourd’hui, c’est samedi. Tim et Anna vont au parc avec Bruno. Il pleut un peu. Dans le parc, il y a beaucoup de boue.

Bruno sees the mud. His eyes get big. Then he jumps. He jumps into the mud. He rolls in the mud. He is happy.
« Bruno, non ! », crie Anna. Mais c’est trop tard. Bruno n’est plus marron. Bruno est noir. Noir et mouillé et très heureux.
“Bruno, no!” calls Anna. But it is too late. Bruno isn’t brown any more. Bruno is black. Black and wet and very happy.
Tim rit. « Maintenant, Bruno est un monstre de boue ! »
Tim laughs. “Now Bruno is a mud monster!”
À la maison, maman attend à la porte. Elle voit Bruno. Elle voit les enfants. Elle voit la boue. « Oh non », dit-elle. « Bruno a besoin d’un bain. »

Bruno hears the word. Bath! He runs away at once. He runs into the house, through the kitchen and into the living room.
« Stop ! Bruno ! Pas sur le canapé ! »
“Stop! Bruno! Not on the sofa!”
Trop tard. Bruno est sur le canapé. Le canapé est blanc. Ou non : le canapé n’est plus blanc maintenant.
Too late. Bruno is lying on the sofa. The sofa is white. Or no: the sofa isn’t white any more.
