यह ब्रूनो है। ब्रूनो एक कुत्ता है। वह बड़ा और भूरा है, और उसके कान लंबे हैं। ब्रूनो क्लाइन परिवार के साथ रहता है।
This is Bruno. Bruno is a dog. He is big and brown, and he has long ears. Bruno lives with the Klein family.
ब्रूनो को बहुत सी चीज़ें पसंद हैं। वह कबाब पसंद करता है। वह गेंद पसंद करता है। वह पार्क पसंद करता है। और वह कीचड़ पसंद करता है।
Bruno loves lots of things. He loves sausage. He loves balls. He loves the park. And he loves mud.
लेकिन ब्रूनो एक चीज़ से नफ़रत करता है। वह पानी से नफ़रत करता है। वह बाथटब से नफ़रत करता है। और वह “स्नान” शब्द से नफ़रत करता है।
But Bruno hates one thing. He hates water. He hates the bathtub. And he hates the word “bath”.
आज शनिवार है। टिम और अन्ना ब्रूनो के साथ पार्क जाते हैं। थोड़ी बारिश होती है। पार्क में बहुत कीचड़ है।
Today is Saturday. Tim and Anna go to the park with Bruno. It is raining a little. There is lots of mud in the park.
ब्रूनो कीचड़ देखता है। उसकी आँखें बड़ी होती हैं। फिर वह कूदता है। वह कीचड़ में कूदता है। वह कीचड़ में लोटता है। वह बहुत ख़ुश है।
Bruno sees the mud. His eyes get big. Then he jumps. He jumps into the mud. He rolls in the mud. He is happy.
“ब्रूनो, नहीं!”, अन्ना चिल्लाती है। लेकिन बहुत देर हो जाती है। ब्रूनो अब भूरा नहीं है। ब्रूनो काला है। काला और गीला और बहुत ख़ुश।
“Bruno, no!” calls Anna. But it is too late. Bruno isn’t brown any more. Bruno is black. Black and wet and very happy.
टिम हँसता है। “अब ब्रूनो कीचड़ का राक्षस है!”
Tim laughs. “Now Bruno is a mud monster!”
घर पर माँ दरवाज़े पर इंतज़ार करती है। वह ब्रूनो को देखती है। वह बच्चों को देखती है। वह कीचड़ देखती है। “अरे नहीं”, वह कहती है। “ब्रूनो को स्नान चाहिए।”
At home Mum is waiting at the door. She sees Bruno. She sees the children. She sees the mud. “Oh no,” she says. “Bruno needs a bath.”
ब्रूनो शब्द सुनता है। स्नान! वह तुरंत भागता है। वह घर में, रसोई से होकर बैठक में भागता है।
Bruno hears the word. Bath! He runs away at once. He runs into the house, through the kitchen and into the living room.
“रुको! ब्रूनो! सोफ़े पर नहीं!”
“Stop! Bruno! Not on the sofa!”
देर हो जाती है। ब्रूनो सोफ़े पर लेटा है। सोफ़ा सफ़ेद है। या नहीं: सोफ़ा अब सफ़ेद नहीं है।
Too late. Bruno is lying on the sofa. The sofa is white. Or no: the sofa isn’t white any more.
