ブルーノとおふろ

これはブルーノです。ブルーノは犬です。大きいです。ちゃいろです。耳は長いです。ブルーノはクラインさんのいえの犬です。

This is Bruno. Bruno is a dog. He is big and brown, and he has long ears. Bruno lives with the Klein family.

ブルーノはすきなものがたくさんあります。ソーセージがすきです。ボールがすきです。こうえんがすきです。そして、どろがすきです。

Bruno loves lots of things. He loves sausage. He loves balls. He loves the park. And he loves mud.

でも、ブルーノはきらいなものが一つあります。水がきらいです。おふろばがきらいです。そして、このことばもきらいです。「おふろ」！

But Bruno hates one thing. He hates water. He hates the bathtub. And he hates the word “bath”.

きょうは土曜日です。ティムとアンナはブルーノとこうえんへ行きます。雨がすこしふります。こうえんにはどろがたくさんあります。

Today is Saturday. Tim and Anna go to the park with Bruno. It is raining a little. There is lots of mud in the park.

ブルーノはどろを見ます。目がきらきらします。それから、ジャンプします。どろの中へジャンプします。どろの中でごろごろします。ブルーノはうれしいです。

Bruno sees the mud. His eyes get big. Then he jumps. He jumps into the mud. He rolls in the mud. He is happy.

「ブルーノ、だめです！」とアンナが大きいこえで言います。でも、もうおそいです。ブルーノはもうちゃいろじゃありません。くろいです。くろいです。びしょびしょです。そして、とてもうれしいです。

“Bruno, no!” calls Anna. But it is too late. Bruno isn’t brown any more. Bruno is black. Black and wet and very happy.

ティムはわらいます。「ブルーノはどろんこモンスターです！」

Tim laughs. “Now Bruno is a mud monster!”

いえでは、ママがドアのところでまちます。ママはブルーノを見ます。子どもたちを見ます。どろを見ます。「あらあら。」とママが言います。「ブルーノは、おふろですね。」

At home Mum is waiting at the door. She sees Bruno. She sees the children. She sees the mud. “Oh no,” she says. “Bruno needs a bath.”

ブルーノはそのことばを聞きます。おふろ！ブルーノはすぐに、にげます。いえの中へはしります。キッチンをはしります。それから、リビングへはしります。

Bruno hears the word. Bath! He runs away at once. He runs into the house, through the kitchen and into the living room.

「ブルーノ！だめです！ソファはだめですよ！」

“Stop! Bruno! Not on the sofa!”

おそいです。ブルーノはソファの上にいます。ソファは白いです。いいえ、ソファはもう白くないです。

Too late. Bruno is lying on the sofa. The sofa is white. Or no: the sofa isn’t white any more.
