This is Bruno. Bruno is a dog. He is big and brown, and he has long ears. Bruno lives with the Klein family.

Bruno ama muitas coisas. Ele ama salsicha. Ele ama bolas. Ele ama o parque. E ele ama lama.

Bruno loves lots of things. He loves sausage. He loves balls. He loves the park. And he loves mud.

Mas Bruno odeia uma coisa. Ele odeia água. Ele odeia a banheira. E ele odeia a palavra “banho”.

But Bruno hates one thing. He hates water. He hates the bathtub. And he hates the word “bath”.

Hoje é sábado. Tim e Anna vão com Bruno ao parque. Chove um pouco. No parque tem muita lama.

Today is Saturday. Tim and Anna go to the park with Bruno. It is raining a little. There is lots of mud in the park.

Bruno vê a lama. Seus olhos ficam grandes. Então ele pula. Ele pula na lama. Ele rola na lama. Ele está feliz.

Bruno sees the mud. His eyes get big. Then he jumps. He jumps into the mud. He rolls in the mud. He is happy.

“Bruno, não!”, grita Anna. Mas é tarde demais. Bruno não está mais marrom. Bruno está preto. Preto e molhado e muito feliz.

“Bruno, no!” calls Anna. But it is too late. Bruno isn’t brown any more. Bruno is black. Black and wet and very happy.

Tim ri. “Agora Bruno é um monstro de lama!”

Tim laughs. “Now Bruno is a mud monster!”

Em casa, a mamãe espera na porta. Ela vê o Bruno. Ela vê as crianças. Ela vê a lama. “Oh não”, diz ela. “Bruno precisa de um banho.”

At home Mum is waiting at the door. She sees Bruno. She sees the children. She sees the mud. “Oh no,” she says. “Bruno needs a bath.”

Bruno ouve a palavra. Banho! Ele foge na hora. Ele corre para dentro de casa, pela cozinha e para a sala de estar.

Bruno hears the word. Bath! He runs away at once. He runs into the house, through the kitchen and into the living room.

“Para! Bruno! Não no sofá!”

“Stop! Bruno! Not on the sofa!”

Tarde demais. Bruno está deitado no sofá. O sofá é branco. Ou não: o sofá agora não está mais branco.

Too late. Bruno is lying on the sofa. The sofa is white. Or no: the sofa isn’t white any more.
