To jest Bruno. Bruno to pies. Jest duży i brązowy i ma długie uszy. Bruno mieszka u rodziny Kleinów: u mamy, taty, Tima i Anny.
This is Bruno. Bruno is a dog. He is big and brown, and he has long ears. Bruno lives with the Klein family: with Mum, Dad, Tim and Anna.
Bruno lubi wiele rzeczy. Lubi piłki. Lubi błoto. Lubi białą kanapę. Ale najbardziej lubi kiełbaski.
Bruno loves lots of things. He loves balls. He loves mud. He loves the white sofa. But most of all he loves sausages.
Dziś jest czwartek. W sobotę rodzina Kleinów robi grilla w ogrodzie. Przychodzą wszyscy sąsiedzi. Tata kupuje dwanaście kiełbasek. Wkłada je do lodówki. „Dwanaście kiełbasek”, mówi. „To wystarczy dla wszystkich”.
Today is Thursday. On Saturday the Klein family is having a barbecue in the garden. All the neighbours are coming. Dad buys twelve sausages. He puts them in the fridge. “Twelve sausages,” he says. “That’s enough for everyone.”
W piątek mama otwiera lodówkę. Liczy kiełbaski. Raz, dwa, trzy … dziesięć. Tylko dziesięć! „Gdzie są dwie kiełbaski?”
On Friday Mum opens the fridge. She counts the sausages. One, two, three … ten. Only ten! “Where are the two sausages?”
Wszyscy patrzą na Bruna. Bruno leży przed lodówką. Każdego ranka leży przed lodówką. Z lodówki tak ładnie pachnie.
Everyone looks at Bruno. Bruno is lying in front of the fridge. He lies in front of the fridge every morning. The fridge smells so good.
„Bruno!”, mówi mama. „To ty?” Bruno kładzie głowę na łapach. Nic nie mówi. Psy nigdy nic nie mówią.
“Bruno!” says Mum. “Is it you?” Bruno puts his head on his paws. He says nothing. Dogs never say anything.
„Zły pies!”, mówi mama. „To nie jest w porządku!”
“Bad dog!” says Mum. “That’s not okay!”
Bruno idzie powoli na swój koc. Jest smutny. Jego uszy wiszą nisko.
Bruno walks slowly to his blanket. He is sad. His ears hang right down.
Anna patrzy na Bruna. Potem patrzy na lodówkę. „Mamo, Bruno nie umie otworzyć lodówki. Nie ma rąk”.
Anna looks at Bruno. Then she looks at the fridge. “Mum, Bruno can’t open the fridge. He has no hands.”
„Hm”, mówi mama. „To prawda. Ale kto to w takim razie jest?”
“Hm,” says Mum. “That’s true. But who is it then?”
Tim ma pomysł. „Dziś w nocy nie śpimy. Czekamy w kuchni. Wtedy to zobaczymy”.
Tim has an idea. “Tonight we’ll stay awake. We’ll wait in the kitchen. Then we’ll see.”
