Acesta este Bruno. Bruno este un câine. El este mare și maro și are urechi lungi. Bruno locuiește la familia Klein: la mama, tata, Tim și Anna.
This is Bruno. Bruno is a dog. He is big and brown, and he has long ears. Bruno lives with the Klein family: with Mum, Dad, Tim and Anna.
Lui Bruno îi plac multe lucruri. Îi plac mingile. Îi place noroiul. Îi place canapeaua albă. Dar cel mai mult îi plac crenvurștii.
Bruno loves lots of things. He loves balls. He loves mud. He loves the white sofa. But most of all he loves sausages.
Today is Thursday. On Saturday the Klein family is having a barbecue in the garden. All the neighbours are coming. Dad buys twelve sausages. He puts them in the fridge. “Twelve sausages,” he says. “That’s enough for everyone.”
Vineri, mama deschide frigiderul. Ea numără crenvurștii. Unu, doi, trei… zece. Doar zece! „Unde sunt cei doi crenvurști?”
On Friday Mum opens the fridge. She counts the sausages. One, two, three … ten. Only ten! “Where are the two sausages?”
Toți se uită la Bruno. Bruno stă întins în fața frigiderului. El stă în fiecare dimineață în fața frigiderului. Frigiderul miroase atât de bine.
Everyone looks at Bruno. Bruno is lying in front of the fridge. He lies in front of the fridge every morning. The fridge smells so good.
„Bruno!”, spune mama. „Tu ești?” Bruno pune capul pe lăbuțe. El nu spune nimic. Câinii nu spun niciodată nimic.
“Bruno!” says Mum. “Is it you?” Bruno puts his head on his paws. He says nothing. Dogs never say anything.
„Câine rău!”, spune mama. „Nu este frumos!”
“Bad dog!” says Mum. “That’s not okay!”
Bruno merge încet pe pătura lui. Este trist. Are urechile lăsate jos de tot.
Bruno walks slowly to his blanket. He is sad. His ears hang right down.
Anna se uită la Bruno. Apoi se uită la frigider. „Mama, Bruno nu poate să deschidă frigiderul. Nu are mâini.”
Anna looks at Bruno. Then she looks at the fridge. “Mum, Bruno can’t open the fridge. He has no hands.”
„Hm”, spune mama. „Așa este. Dar cine este atunci?”
“Hm,” says Mum. “That’s true. But who is it then?”
Tim are o idee. „La noapte nu dormim. Așteptăm în bucătărie. Atunci o să vedem.”
Tim has an idea. “Tonight we’ll stay awake. We’ll wait in the kitchen. Then we’ll see.”
