Casa care ascultă

În martie 2050 ne-am mutat în noua casă. Tom, fiica mea Mia și cu mine. Casa se află la marginea orașului Freiburg, între o pădure și un râu mic.

In March 2050 we moved into the new house. Tom, my daughter Mia and I. The house stands on the edge of Freiburg, between a forest and a small river.

Nu este o casă normală. Are un computer, iar computerul poate să vorbească. Îl cheamă Otto. Otto aprinde și stinge lumina. El face cafea și deschide ușile.

It isn’t a normal house. It has a computer, and the computer can talk. It’s called Otto. Otto turns the lights on and off. He makes coffee and opens the doors.

În prima seară, Mia a stat în bucătărie și a întrebat cu voce tare: „Otto, ești un robot?”

On the first evening Mia stood in the kitchen and asked loudly, “Otto, are you a robot?”

„Nu”, a răspuns Otto. Vocea lui era calmă și prietenoasă. „Eu sunt casa. Eu ascult și eu ajut.”

“No,” Otto answered. His voice was calm and friendly. “I am the house. I listen and I help.”

Mia a râs. Tom a clătinat din cap. „O casă care ascultă”, a spus el. „Este puțin ciudat.”

Mia laughed. Tom shook his head. “A house that listens,” he said. “That’s a bit strange.”

Casa a fost foarte ieftină. Vechea proprietară, doamna Winter, a murit iarna. Ea a locuit aici singură, timp de treizeci de ani. Agentul imobiliar nu a povestit multe despre ea.

The house was very cheap. The old owner, Mrs Winter, died in the winter. She lived here alone, for thirty years. The estate agent didn’t tell us much about her.
