会倾听的房子

2050年3月，我们搬进了新家。汤姆、我的女儿米娅和我。房子在弗赖堡的边缘，在森林和小河之间。

In March 2050 we moved into the new house. Tom, my daughter Mia and I. The house stands on the edge of Freiburg, between a forest and a small river.

这不是普通的房子。它有一台电脑，电脑会说话。它叫奥托。奥托负责开关灯。它会煮咖啡，还会开门。

It isn’t a normal house. It has a computer, and the computer can talk. It’s called Otto. Otto turns the lights on and off. He makes coffee and opens the doors.

第一天晚上，米娅站在厨房大声问：“奥托，你是机器人吗？”

On the first evening Mia stood in the kitchen and asked loudly, “Otto, are you a robot?”

“不是，”奥托回答。它的声音很平静也很友好。“我是房子。我在听，我在帮忙。”

“No,” Otto answered. His voice was calm and friendly. “I am the house. I listen and I help.”

米娅笑了。汤姆摇了摇头。“一栋会听人说话的房子，”他说。“这有点奇怪。”

Mia laughed. Tom shook his head. “A house that listens,” he said. “That’s a bit strange.”

这栋房子很便宜。前房主温特太太在冬天去世了。她一个人在这里住了三十年。房产中介没多说关于她的事。

The house was very cheap. The old owner, Mrs Winter, died in the winter. She lived here alone, for thirty years. The estate agent didn’t tell us much about her.
