नया लड़का

एला आठ साल की है। वह दूसरी कक्षा में पढ़ती है। उसकी शिक्षिका का नाम श्रीमती सोमर है। श्रीमती सोमर अच्छी हैं।

Ella is eight. She is in the second year at school. Her teacher is called Mrs Sommer. Mrs Sommer is nice.

आज सोमवार है। एला के पास एक जगह खाली है। आज वहाँ एक नया लड़का बैठता है।

Today is Monday. There is a free seat next to Ella. Today a new boy is sitting there.

“यह लूका है,” श्रीमती सोमर कहती हैं। “लूका इटली से है। वह अब यहाँ रहता है। वह अभी जर्मन नहीं बोलता है।”

“This is Luca,” says Mrs Sommer. “Luca comes from Italy. He lives here now. He doesn’t speak any German yet.”

लूका के काले बाल हैं और उसने नीली जैकेट पहनी है। वह मेज़ की तरफ देखता है। वह कुछ नहीं बोलता है।

Luca has black hair and a blue jacket. He looks down at the desk. He says nothing.

एला मुस्कुराती है। “नमस्ते! मैं एला हूँ।”

Ella smiles. “Hello! I’m Ella.”

लूका एला को देखता है। वह कुछ कहता है। लेकिन एला नहीं समझती है। यह अच्छा लगता है, एक गाने की तरह। लेकिन यह इतालवी है।

Luca looks at Ella. He says something. But Ella doesn’t understand it. It sounds nice, like a song. But it is Italian.

कक्षा शुरू होती है। श्रीमती सोमर बोर्ड पर लिखती हैं। बच्चे पढ़ते हैं। बच्चे लिखते हैं। लूका कुछ नहीं लिखता है। वह खिड़की से बाहर देखता है।

The lesson begins. Mrs Sommer writes on the board. The children read. The children write. Luca writes nothing. He looks out of the window.

एला सोचती है: लूका उदास है। वह नया है। वह किसी को नहीं जानता है। और वह कुछ नहीं समझता है। यह मुश्किल है।

Ella thinks: Luca is sad. He is new. He doesn’t know anyone. And he doesn’t understand anything. That’s hard.

आधी छुट्टी में बच्चे मैदान में खेलते हैं। लूका दीवार के पास अकेला खड़ा है।

At break time the children play in the playground. Luca stands alone by the wall.

एला को एक तरकीब सूझती है। वह कागज़ और एक कलम लाती है। वह एक सूरज बनाती है। फिर वह सूरज की तरफ इशारा करती है। “सूरज,” वह कहती है।

Ella has an idea. She fetches some paper and a pencil. She draws a sun. Then she points at the sun. “Sonne,” she says.

लूका चित्र देखता है। फिर वह थोड़ा मुस्कुराता है। “सोले,” वह कहता है।

Luca looks at the picture. Then he smiles a little. “Sole,” he says.

“सोले!,” एला कहती है। “सूरज सोले है!”

“Sole!” says Ella. “Sonne is sole!”
