Mart 2061’de ofisimizde yeni bir iş arkadaşı işe başladı. Ofisimiz onuncu katta, tam Hamburg limanında. Ekipte sadece altı kişiyiz. Uzay gemileri için sigorta satıyoruz.

In March 2061 a new colleague started in our office. Our office is on the tenth floor, right by the port of Hamburg. There are only six of us on the team. We sell insurance for spaceships.

Bu heyecanlı bir iş değil. Ay’daki ve Mars’taki şirketlerle telefonla konuşuyoruz. Sözleşmeler yazıyoruz ve fiyatları hesaplıyoruz. Her gün aynı şey.

It isn’t exciting work. We talk on the phone with companies on the Moon and on Mars. We write contracts and work out prices. Every day it’s the same.

Yeni iş arkadaşının adı Bay Berg idi. Uzun boylu ve çok düzenliydi. Gömleği her zaman beyazdı, ayakkabıları her zaman temizdi. Herkesle tokalaştı ve dostça gülümsedi.

The new colleague was called Mr Berg. He was tall and very neat. His shirt was always white, his shoes were always clean. He shook everyone’s hand and smiled kindly.

“Günaydın” dedi. “Sizinle çalışmak için sabırsızlanıyorum.”

“Good morning,” he said. “I’m looking forward to working with you.”

Adım Jonas. Üç yıldır bu ekipteyim. Patron değilim ama en çok sigortayı ben satıyorum.

My name is Jonas. I’ve been on this team for three years. I’m not the boss, but I sell the most insurance policies.

İş arkadaşım Aylin sessizce kulağıma “Bu biraz fazla mükemmel, değil mi?” dedi. Sadece güldüm. Ama haklıydı.

My colleague Aylin whispered in my ear, “He’s a bit too perfect, isn’t he?” I just laughed. But she was right.
