छोटी बत्तख

बसंत का मौसम है। धूप खिली है। लीना और उसका छोटा भाई नोआ खेल के मैदान में हैं। खेल का मैदान पार्क में एक तालाब के पास है।

It is spring. The sun is shining. Lina and her little brother Noah are at the playground. The playground is in the park, next to a pond.

लीना झूले पर है। नोआ रेत में है। वह एक किला बनाता है। फिर वह पुकारता है: “लीना! जल्दी आओ! वहाँ एक चिड़िया है!”

Lina is on the swing. Noah is in the sand. He is building a castle. Then he shouts, “Lina! Come quickly! There’s a bird!”

लीना आती है। रेत में एक छोटी चिड़िया बैठी है। वह पीली और भूरी है और बहुत कोमल है। उसकी चोंच चपटी है।

Lina comes. A little bird is sitting in the sand. It is yellow and brown and very soft. It has a flat beak.

“वह कोई चिड़िया नहीं है,” लीना कहती है। “वह एक बत्तख है। एक नन्ही बत्तख!”

“That’s not just a bird,” says Lina. “It’s a duck. A baby duck!”

छोटी बत्तख कहती है: “चीं! चीं!”

The little duck says, “Peep! Peep!”

“माँ कहाँ है?” नोआ पूछता है। लीना बाईं ओर देखती है। वह दाईं ओर देखती है। माँ नहीं दिखती। सिर्फ बच्चे, माताएँ, पिता और एक कुत्ता हैं।

“Where is its mummy?” asks Noah. Lina looks to the left. She looks to the right. No mummy. Only children, mothers, fathers and a dog.

कुत्ता बत्तख को देखता है। वह भौंकता है। “भौं! भौं!” बत्तख जोर से चीं-चीं करती है। वह दौड़कर नोआ के पास जाती है और अब उसके जूते पर बैठी है।

The dog sees the duck. He barks. “Woof! Woof!” The duck peeps loudly. It runs to Noah and now it is sitting on his shoe.

“वह डरती है,” लीना कहती है। “हमें माँ को ढूँढ़ना है।”

“It’s scared,” says Lina. “We have to find its mummy.”

“माँ ज़रूर तालाब पर है,” नोआ कहता है। “बत्तखें तालाब पर रहती हैं।”

“Its mummy is sure to be at the pond,” says Noah. “Ducks live at the pond.”

लीना सिर हिलाती है। “ठीक है। हम तालाब की ओर चलते हैं।”

Lina nods. “Good. Let’s go to the pond.”
