Bebek Kecil

Sekarang musim semi. Matahari bersinar. Lina dan adik laki-lakinya, Noah, ada di taman bermain. Taman bermain itu ada di taman kota, di dekat kolam.

It is spring. The sun is shining. Lina and her little brother Noah are at the playground. The playground is in the park, next to a pond.

Lina ada di ayunan. Noah ada di pasir. Dia membuat istana. Lalu dia berseru: “Lina! Cepat ke sini! Ada burung!”

Lina is on the swing. Noah is in the sand. He is building a castle. Then he shouts, “Lina! Come quickly! There’s a bird!”

Lina datang. Di pasir ada seekor burung kecil. Dia berwarna kuning dan cokelat serta sangat lembut. Dia punya paruh yang datar.

Lina comes. A little bird is sitting in the sand. It is yellow and brown and very soft. It has a flat beak.

“Itu bukan burung,” kata Lina. “Itu bebek. Anak bebek!”

“That’s not just a bird,” says Lina. “It’s a duck. A baby duck!”

Bebek kecil itu bersuara: “Cip! Cip!”

The little duck says, “Peep! Peep!”

“Di mana ibunya?” tanya Noah. Lina melihat ke kiri. Dia melihat ke kanan. Tidak ada ibu. Hanya ada anak-anak, ibu-ibu, ayah-ayah, dan seekor anjing.

“Where is its mummy?” asks Noah. Lina looks to the left. She looks to the right. No mummy. Only children, mothers, fathers and a dog.

Anjing itu melihat sang bebek. Dia menggonggong. “Guk! Guk!” Bebek itu mencicit keras. Dia berlari ke arah Noah dan sekarang duduk di atas sepatunya.

The dog sees the duck. He barks. “Woof! Woof!” The duck peeps loudly. It runs to Noah and now it is sitting on his shoe.

“Dia takut,” kata Lina. “Kita harus mencari ibunya.”

“It’s scared,” says Lina. “We have to find its mummy.”

“Ibunya pasti ada di kolam,” kata Noah. “Bebek tinggal di kolam.”

“Its mummy is sure to be at the pond,” says Noah. “Ducks live at the pond.”

Lina mengangguk. “Bagus. Kita pergi ke kolam.”

Lina nods. “Good. Let’s go to the pond.”
