Lukas ma dziewięć lat. Chce psa. Chce psa rano, w południe i wieczorem. Chce psa każdego dnia.
Lukas is nine years old. He wants a dog. He wants a dog in the morning, at lunchtime and in the evening. He wants a dog every day.
„Mamo, proszę! Psa!” „Nie, Lukasie. Pies to dużo pracy”.
“Mum, please! A dog!” “No, Lukas. A dog is a lot of work.”
„Tato, proszę! Psa!” „Nie, Lukasie. Pies jest głośny. I niszczy wszystko”.
“Dad, please! A dog!” “No, Lukas. A dog is noisy. And it breaks everything.”
„Ale ja robię wszystko!”, mówi Lukas. „Chodzę z psem na spacer. Daję mu jedzenie. Bawię się z nim. Każdego dnia!”
“But I’ll do everything!” says Lukas. “I’ll take the dog for walks. I’ll give it food. I’ll play with it. Every day!”
Mama patrzy na tatę. Tata patrzy na mamę. „Hmm”, mówi mama. „Hmm”, mówi tata.
Mum looks at Dad. Dad looks at Mum. “Hmm,” says Mum. “Hmm,” says Dad.
Wtedy dzwoni dzwonek. Pan Bauer stoi przed drzwiami. Mieszka na dole w domu. Ma psa. Pies ma na imię Otto. Otto jest mały, biały i bardzo dziki.
Just then the doorbell rings. Mr Bauer is standing at the door. He lives downstairs in the building. He has a dog. The dog’s name is Otto. Otto is small, white and very wild.
„Mam problem”, mówi pan Bauer. „Jadę jutro do Włoch, na tydzień. Ale Otto nie może jechać ze mną. Czy Otto może zostać tydzień u Państwa?”
“I have a problem,” says Mr Bauer. “I’m going to Italy tomorrow, for one week. But Otto can’t come. Can Otto stay with you for a week?”
Lukas podskakuje. „Tak! Tak! Tak!” Tata śmieje się. „Dobrze. Tydzień. To jest test, Lukasie”.
Lukas jumps up. “Yes! Yes! Yes!” Dad laughs. “All right. One week. This is a test, Lukas.”
Poniedziałek. Otto przychodzi. Biega po mieszkaniu. Biega do kuchni, do łazienki i do sypialni. Skacze na kanapę. Skacze na łóżko taty.
Monday. Otto arrives. He runs through the flat. He runs into the kitchen, into the bathroom and into the bedroom. He jumps onto the sofa. He jumps onto Dad’s bed.
Lukas chodzi rano na spacer z Ottonem. Chodzi w południe na spacer z Ottonem. Chodzi wieczorem na spacer z Ottonem. Wieczorem Lukas jest bardzo zmęczony. Ale jest szczęśliwy.
Lukas takes Otto for a walk in the morning. He takes Otto for a walk at lunchtime. He takes Otto for a walk in the evening. In the evening Lukas is very tired. But he is happy.
Wtorek. Pada deszcz. Otto nie chce iść na deszcz. Lukas czeka. Otto też czeka. Potem Otto robi kałużę. W kuchni. Lukas czyści podłogę.
Tuesday. It is raining. Otto doesn’t want to go out in the rain. Lukas waits. Otto waits too. Then Otto makes a puddle. In the kitchen. Lukas cleans the floor.
Środa. Otto znajduje buty taty. Uważa te buty za bardzo smaczne. Tata nie uważa tego za zabawne.
Wednesday. Otto finds Dad’s shoes. He finds the shoes very tasty. Dad does not find that funny.
