Lukas are nouă ani. El vrea un câine. El vrea un câine dimineața, la prânz și seara. El vrea un câine în fiecare zi.
Lukas is nine years old. He wants a dog. He wants a dog in the morning, at lunchtime and in the evening. He wants a dog every day.
„Mama, te rog! Un câine!” „Nu, Lukas. Un câine înseamnă multă muncă.”
“Mum, please! A dog!” “No, Lukas. A dog is a lot of work.”
„Tata, te rog! Un câine!” „Nu, Lukas. Un câine face gălăgie. Și strică tot.”
“Dad, please! A dog!” “No, Lukas. A dog is noisy. And it breaks everything.”
„Dar eu fac totul!”, spune Lukas. „Eu merg la plimbare cu câinele. Eu îi dau mâncare. Eu mă joc cu el. În fiecare zi!”
“But I’ll do everything!” says Lukas. “I’ll take the dog for walks. I’ll give it food. I’ll play with it. Every day!”
Mama se uită la tata. Tata se uită la mama. „Hmm”, spune mama. „Hmm”, spune tata.
Mum looks at Dad. Dad looks at Mum. “Hmm,” says Mum. “Hmm,” says Dad.
Atunci sună soneria. Domnul Bauer stă în fața ușii. El locuiește jos în bloc. El are un câine. Pe câine îl cheamă Otto. Otto este mic, alb și foarte zvăpăiat.
Just then the doorbell rings. Mr Bauer is standing at the door. He lives downstairs in the building. He has a dog. The dog’s name is Otto. Otto is small, white and very wild.
„Am o problemă”, spune domnul Bauer. „Plec mâine în Italia, pentru o săptămână. Dar Otto nu poate să meargă cu mine. Poate Otto să stea o săptămână la dumneavoastră?”
“I have a problem,” says Mr Bauer. “I’m going to Italy tomorrow, for one week. But Otto can’t come. Can Otto stay with you for a week?”
Lukas sare în sus. „Da! Da! Da!” Tata râde. „Bine. O săptămână. Acesta este un test, Lukas.”
Lukas jumps up. “Yes! Yes! Yes!” Dad laughs. “All right. One week. This is a test, Lukas.”
Luni. Otto vine. El aleargă prin apartament. Aleargă în bucătărie, în baie și în dormitor. Sare pe canapea. Sare pe patul lui tata.
Monday. Otto arrives. He runs through the flat. He runs into the kitchen, into the bathroom and into the bedroom. He jumps onto the sofa. He jumps onto Dad’s bed.
Lukas merge dimineața la plimbare cu Otto. Merge la prânz la plimbare cu Otto. Merge seara la plimbare cu Otto. Seara, Lukas este foarte obosit. Dar este fericit.
Lukas takes Otto for a walk in the morning. He takes Otto for a walk at lunchtime. He takes Otto for a walk in the evening. In the evening Lukas is very tired. But he is happy.
Marți. Plouă. Otto nu vrea să meargă în ploaie. Lukas așteaptă. Și Otto așteaptă. Apoi Otto face o baltă. În bucătărie. Lukas spală podeaua.
Tuesday. It is raining. Otto doesn’t want to go out in the rain. Lukas waits. Otto waits too. Then Otto makes a puddle. In the kitchen. Lukas cleans the floor.
Miercuri. Otto găsește pantofii lui tata. Pantofii i se par foarte gustoși. Lui tata nu i se pare amuzant.
Wednesday. Otto finds Dad’s shoes. He finds the shoes very tasty. Dad does not find that funny.
