Lukas chín tuổi. Cậu muốn có một chú chó. Cậu muốn có một chú chó vào buổi sáng, buổi trưa và buổi tối. Cậu muốn có một chú chó mỗi ngày.
Lukas is nine years old. He wants a dog. He wants a dog in the morning, at lunchtime and in the evening. He wants a dog every day.
“Mẹ ơi, đi mà! Một chú chó ạ!” “Không được, Lukas. Nuôi một chú chó rất vất vả.”
“Mum, please! A dog!” “No, Lukas. A dog is a lot of work.”
“Bố ơi, đi mà! Một chú chó ạ!” “Không được, Lukas. Chó ồn ào lắm. Và nó phá hỏng mọi thứ.”
“Dad, please! A dog!” “No, Lukas. A dog is noisy. And it breaks everything.”
“Nhưng con làm mọi việc mà!”, Lukas nói. “Con dắt chó đi dạo. Con cho nó ăn. Con chơi với nó. Mỗi ngày luôn ạ!”
“But I’ll do everything!” says Lukas. “I’ll take the dog for walks. I’ll give it food. I’ll play with it. Every day!”
Mẹ nhìn bố. Bố nhìn mẹ. “Ừm”, mẹ nói. “Ừm”, bố nói.
Mum looks at Dad. Dad looks at Mum. “Hmm,” says Mum. “Hmm,” says Dad.
Bỗng có tiếng chuông cửa. Bác Bauer đứng trước cửa. Bác sống ở tầng dưới trong tòa nhà. Bác có một chú chó. Chú chó tên là Otto. Otto nhỏ, màu trắng và rất nghịch ngợm.
Just then the doorbell rings. Mr Bauer is standing at the door. He lives downstairs in the building. He has a dog. The dog’s name is Otto. Otto is small, white and very wild.
“Tôi có một vấn đề”, bác Bauer nói. “Ngày mai tôi đi Ý trong một tuần. Nhưng Otto không thể đi cùng. Otto có thể ở lại chỗ anh chị một tuần được không?”
“I have a problem,” says Mr Bauer. “I’m going to Italy tomorrow, for one week. But Otto can’t come. Can Otto stay with you for a week?”
Lukas nhảy cẫng lên. “Được ạ! Được ạ! Được ạ!” Bố cười. “Tốt thôi. Một tuần nhé. Đây là một thử thách đấy, Lukas.”
Lukas jumps up. “Yes! Yes! Yes!” Dad laughs. “All right. One week. This is a test, Lukas.”
Thứ Hai. Otto đến. Nó chạy quanh căn hộ. Nó chạy vào bếp, vào phòng tắm và vào phòng ngủ. Nó nhảy lên ghế sô-pha. Nó nhảy lên giường của bố.
Monday. Otto arrives. He runs through the flat. He runs into the kitchen, into the bathroom and into the bedroom. He jumps onto the sofa. He jumps onto Dad’s bed.
Lukas dắt Otto đi dạo vào buổi sáng. Cậu dắt Otto đi dạo vào buổi trưa. Cậu dắt Otto đi dạo vào buổi tối. Buổi tối, Lukas rất mệt. Nhưng cậu rất vui.
Lukas takes Otto for a walk in the morning. He takes Otto for a walk at lunchtime. He takes Otto for a walk in the evening. In the evening Lukas is very tired. But he is happy.
Thứ Ba. Trời mưa. Otto không muốn đi ra ngoài mưa. Lukas chờ. Otto cũng chờ. Sau đó, Otto đi bậy một bãi. Ở trong bếp. Lukas lau sàn nhà.
Tuesday. It is raining. Otto doesn’t want to go out in the rain. Lukas waits. Otto waits too. Then Otto makes a puddle. In the kitchen. Lukas cleans the floor.
Thứ Tư. Otto thấy đôi giày của bố. Nó thấy đôi giày rất ngon miệng. Bố thấy việc đó không vui chút nào.
Wednesday. Otto finds Dad’s shoes. He finds the shoes very tasty. Dad does not find that funny.
