Anneanne İçin Bir Kardan Adam

Kış mevsimi. Kar yağıyor. Bahçe beyaz, çatı beyaz ve yol da beyaz.

It is winter. It is snowing. The garden is white, the roof is white, and the street is white too.

Sophie ve kardeşi Max anneannede kalıyor. Anneanne bir köyde küçük bir evde oturuyor. Sophie dokuz yaşında. Max altı yaşında.

Sophie and her brother Max are at Grandma’s. Grandma lives in a small house in a village. Sophie is nine. Max is six.

Anneanne karı seviyor. Her kış Sophie ve Max ile kardan adam yapıyor. Ama bugün anneanne hasta. Anneannenin nezlesi var. Yatakta yatıyor ve öksürüyor.

Grandma loves snow. Every winter she builds a snowman with Sophie and Max. But today Grandma is ill. She has a cold. She is lying in bed, coughing.

“Çok kar var” diyor anneanne. Pencereden dışarı bakıyor. “Ve yatakta kalıyorum. Doktor hayır diyor.”

“So much snow,” says Grandma. She looks out of the window. “And I have to stay in bed. The doctor says no.”

Sophie ve Max mutfağa gidiyor. Max üzgün. “Anneanne kara gidemiyor.”

Sophie and Max go into the kitchen. Max is sad. “Grandma can’t go out in the snow.”

Sophie düşünüyor. Sonra gülüyor. “Anneanne kara gidemiyor. Ama kar anneanneye geliyor!”

Sophie thinks. Then she laughs. “Grandma can’t go out in the snow. But the snow can come to Grandma!”

“Yatakta kar mı?” diye soruyor Max. “Bu soğuk. Ve ıslak.”

“Snow in the bed?” asks Max. “That’s cold. And wet.”

“Hayır, hayır. Benimle gel! Bir planım var.”

“No, no. Come with me! I have a plan.”

Ceketleri, şapkaları ve eldivenleri giyiyorlar. Bahçeye gidiyorlar. Anneannenin penceresinin önünde çok kar var. Çok fazla kar var.

They put on their coats, their hats and their gloves. They go into the garden. In front of Grandma’s window there is lots of snow. A great deal of snow.

“Kardan adam yapıyoruz” diyor Sophie. “Tam burada. Pencerenin önünde. O zaman anneanne bütün gün kardan adamı görüyor.”

“We’ll build a snowman,” says Sophie. “Right here. In front of the window. Then Grandma can see the snowman all day.”
