Kilise Duvarı

Yeni Fiyat

The new price

Ertesi sabah köyden iki adam çatıya çıkıyor. Sık sık başlarını iki yana sallıyorlar.

The next morning, two men from the village climb onto the roof. They shake their heads a lot.

Sophie beni bahçede buluyor. Yine beyaz ceketini giyiyor ve elinde yeni belgeler var.

Sophie finds me in the garden. She is wearing her white blazer again, and she has new papers in her hand.

Sophie: Marco yeni bir teklif yaptı. İki buçuk milyon. Çatı yüzünden.

Sophie: Marco has made a new offer. Two and a half million. Because of the roof.

“İki buçuk mu? Üç gün önce dört milyondu!”

“Two and a half? Three days ago it was four!”

Sophie: Üç gün önce çatı kırık değildi. Gerçekçi ol, Tom. Bu hâlâ çok para.

Sophie: Three days ago, the roof was not broken. Be realistic, Tom. It’s still a lot of money.

“Bütün gece onunlaydın, Sophie. Sen kimin avukatısın? Benim mi yoksa onun mu?”

“You were with him all night, Sophie. Whose lawyer are you? Mine or his?”

Yüzü bembeyaz oluyor. Bir an korkmuş görünüyor. Sonra yine soğuk.

Her face goes white. For a second she looks afraid. Then she is cool again.

Sophie: Bunu hiç söylememişsin gibi davranacağım.

Sophie: I’m going to pretend you didn’t say that.

Eve geri dönüyor. Topukları taşların üzerinde bir saat gibi tıkırdıyor.

She walks back into the house. Her heels click on the stones like a clock.
