할아버지와 휴대전화

요나스는 여덟 살이다. 수요일마다 할아버지 집에 간다. 할아버지는 나이가 많지만 재미있다. 흰 머리와 안경이 있다.

Jonas is eight. He is at Grandpa’s every Wednesday. Grandpa is old, but funny. He has white hair and glasses.

오늘은 수요일이다. 요나스가 벨을 누른다. 할아버지가 문을 연다. 손에 작고 검은 상자가 있다. 할아버지 얼굴이 안 좋다.

Today is Wednesday. Jonas rings the bell. Grandpa opens the door. In his hand he has a small black box. He doesn’t look happy.

“안녕, 요나스. 이것 봐요. 네 엄마 선물이에요. 휴대전화예요! 하지만 잘 모르겠어요. 나를 도와줘요?”

“Hello, Jonas. Look. This is a present from your mum. A phone! But I don’t understand it. Will you help me?”

“당연하죠, 할아버지!” 요나스는 소파에서 할아버지 옆에 앉는다. 상자를 연다. 휴대전화는 새것이고 반짝거린다.

“Sure, Grandpa!” Jonas sits next to Grandpa on the sofa. He opens the box. The phone is new and shiny.

“먼저 전화해요.” 요나스가 말한다. “여기를 눌러요. 그다음에 엄마한테 전화해요.”

“Phone calls first,” says Jonas. “You press here. Then you call Mum.”

할아버지가 누른다. 벨이 울린다. 그때 어떤 목소리가 말한다. “로마 피자집이에요, 안녕하세요!”

Grandpa presses. It rings. Then a voice says: “Pizzeria Roma, good afternoon!”

할아버지가 눈을 크게 뜬다. “어! 음… 안녕하세요. 치즈 피자 하나 주세요.”

Grandpa’s eyes go wide. “Oh! Er … Hello. A cheese pizza, please.”

요나스가 웃는다. “할아버지! 엄마가 아니에요!” “맞아요.” 할아버지가 말한다. “하지만 이제 피자가 있어요.”

Jonas laughs. “Grandpa! That’s not Mum!” “No,” says Grandpa. “But now we have pizza.”

“이제 사진이에요.” 요나스가 말한다. “여기 버튼을 눌러요. 찰칵!”

“Now photos,” says Jonas. “You press the button here. Click!”

할아버지가 사진을 찍는다. 그다음에 또 찍는다. 그다음에 또 열 장을 찍는다. 요나스가 사진들을 본다. 첫 번째 사진에는 엄지손가락이 있다. 두 번째 사진에는 코가 있다. 세 번째 사진에는 전등이 있다.

Grandpa takes a photo. Then another photo. Then ten more photos. Jonas looks at the photos. In the first photo there is a thumb. In the second photo there is a nose. In the third photo there is the lamp.

“그리고 이건 뭐예요?” 요나스가 묻는다. 사진이 회색이고 부드럽다. “이웃집 고양이에요.” 할아버지가 자랑스럽게 말한다. “고양이 배예요.”

“And this one?” asks Jonas. The photo is grey and fluffy. “That’s the neighbour’s cat,” says Grandpa proudly. “Her tummy.”
