Jonas is acht. Hij is elke woensdag bij opa. Opa is oud, maar grappig. Hij heeft wit haar en een bril.
Jonas is eight. He is at Grandpa’s every Wednesday. Grandpa is old, but funny. He has white hair and glasses.
Vandaag is het woensdag. Jonas belt aan. Opa doet de deur open. In zijn hand heeft hij een klein zwart doosje. Hij ziet er niet blij uit.
Today is Wednesday. Jonas rings the bell. Grandpa opens the door. In his hand he has a small black box. He doesn’t look happy.
“Hallo, Jonas. Kijk eens. Dit is een cadeau van je mama. Een mobiele telefoon! Maar ik snap het niet. Help je me?”
“Hello, Jonas. Look. This is a present from your mum. A phone! But I don’t understand it. Will you help me?”
“Natuurlijk, opa!” Jonas zit naast opa op de bank. Hij maakt het doosje open. De mobiele telefoon is nieuw en glanst.
“Sure, Grandpa!” Jonas sits next to Grandpa on the sofa. He opens the box. The phone is new and shiny.
“Eerst bellen”, zegt Jonas. “Je drukt hier. Dan bel je mama.”
“Phone calls first,” says Jonas. “You press here. Then you call Mum.”
Opa drukt. De telefoon gaat over. Dan zegt een stem: “Pizzeria Roma, goedendag!”
Grandpa presses. It rings. Then a voice says: “Pizzeria Roma, good afternoon!”
Opa spert zijn ogen wijd open. “Oh! Eh … Hallo. Een pizza met kaas, alstublieft.”
Grandpa’s eyes go wide. “Oh! Er … Hello. A cheese pizza, please.”
Jonas lacht. “Opa! Dat is mama niet!” “Nee”, zegt opa. “Maar nu hebben we pizza.”
Jonas laughs. “Grandpa! That’s not Mum!” “No,” says Grandpa. “But now we have pizza.”
“Nu foto’s”, zegt Jonas. “Je drukt op de knop hier. Klik!”
“Now photos,” says Jonas. “You press the button here. Click!”
Opa maakt een foto. Dan nog een foto. Dan nog tien foto’s. Jonas bekijkt de foto’s. Op de eerste foto staat een duim. Op de tweede foto staat een neus. Op de derde foto staat de lamp.
Grandpa takes a photo. Then another photo. Then ten more photos. Jonas looks at the photos. In the first photo there is a thumb. In the second photo there is a nose. In the third photo there is the lamp.
“En dit hier?”, vraagt Jonas. De foto is grijs en zacht. “Dat is de kat van de buurman”, zegt opa trots. “Haar buik.”
“And this one?” asks Jonas. The photo is grey and fluffy. “That’s the neighbour’s cat,” says Grandpa proudly. “Her tummy.”
