Jonas a huit ans. Il est chez Papi chaque mercredi. Papi est vieux, mais il est amusant. Il fait bien la cuisine, et il aime lire des histoires.
Jonas is eight. Every Wednesday he is at Grandpa’s. Grandpa is old, but funny. He cooks well, and he likes reading stories.
Aujourd’hui, c’est mercredi. Jonas sonne. Papi ouvre la porte. « Bonjour, Jonas ! Entre ! »
Today is Wednesday. Jonas rings the bell. Grandpa opens the door. “Hello, Jonas! Come in!”
« Bonjour, Papi ! Est-ce que tu lis une histoire aujourd’hui ? » « Oui, avec plaisir », dit Papi. « Mais d’abord, j’ai besoin de mes lunettes. »
“Hello, Grandpa! Will you read a story today?” “Yes, gladly,” says Grandpa. “But first I need my glasses.”
Papi cherche. Il cherche sur la table. Il y a le journal. Il y a une tasse de thé. Mais il n’y a pas de lunettes.
Grandpa looks. He looks on the table. There is the newspaper. There is a cup of tea. But there are no glasses.
« Hum », dit Papi. « Où sont mes lunettes ? »
“Hm,” says Grandpa. “Where are my glasses?”
Jonas cherche aussi. Il cherche dans la cuisine. Il ouvre le réfrigérateur. Dans le réfrigérateur, il y a du lait, du fromage et une tomate. Mais il n’y a pas de lunettes.
Jonas looks too. He looks in the kitchen. He opens the fridge. In the fridge there is milk, cheese and a tomato. But no glasses.
Papi cherche dans la salle de bains. Il y a sa brosse à dents. Il y a son peigne. Mais il n’y a pas de lunettes.
Grandpa looks in the bathroom. There is his toothbrush. There is his comb. But there are no glasses.
« Peut-être dans le jardin ? », demande Jonas. Ils vont dans le jardin. Le chat du voisin est assis là. Le chat regarde Papi. Papi regarde le chat.
“Maybe in the garden?” asks Jonas. They go into the garden. The neighbour’s cat is sitting there. The cat looks at Grandpa. Grandpa looks at the cat.
« Est-ce que tu as mes lunettes ? », demande Papi. Le chat ne dit rien. Il part.
“Have you got my glasses?” asks Grandpa. The cat says nothing. She walks away.
« Les chats n’ont pas de lunettes, Papi », dit Jonas. « Les chats voient très bien. »
“Cats don’t have glasses, Grandpa,” says Jonas. “Cats see very well.”
« Les chats ont de la chance », dit Papi.
“Lucky cats,” says Grandpa.
