Das ist Bruno. Bruno ist ein Hund. Er ist groß und braun, und er hat lange Ohren. Bruno wohnt bei Familie Klein.

This is Bruno. Bruno is a dog. He is big and brown, and he has long ears. Bruno lives with the Klein family.

Bruno liebt viele Dinge. Er liebt Wurst. Er liebt Bälle. Er liebt den Park. Und er liebt Matsch.

Bruno loves lots of things. He loves sausage. He loves balls. He loves the park. And he loves mud.

Aber Bruno hasst eine Sache. Er hasst Wasser. Er hasst die Badewanne. Und er hasst das Wort „Bad“.

But Bruno hates one thing. He hates water. He hates the bathtub. And he hates the word “bath”.

Heute ist Samstag. Tim und Anna gehen mit Bruno in den Park. Es regnet ein bisschen. Im Park ist viel Matsch.

Today is Saturday. Tim and Anna go to the park with Bruno. It is raining a little. There is lots of mud in the park.

Bruno sieht den Matsch. Seine Augen werden groß. Dann springt er. Er springt in den Matsch. Er rollt im Matsch. Er ist glücklich.

Bruno sees the mud. His eyes get big. Then he jumps. He jumps into the mud. He rolls in the mud. He is happy.

„Bruno, nein!“, ruft Anna. Aber es ist zu spät. Bruno ist nicht mehr braun. Bruno ist schwarz. Schwarz und nass und sehr glücklich.

“Bruno, no!” calls Anna. But it is too late. Bruno isn’t brown any more. Bruno is black. Black and wet and very happy.

Tim lacht. „Jetzt ist Bruno ein Matschmonster!“

Tim laughs. “Now Bruno is a mud monster!”

Zu Hause wartet Mama an der Tür. Sie sieht Bruno. Sie sieht die Kinder. Sie sieht den Matsch. „Oh nein“, sagt sie. „Bruno braucht ein Bad.“

At home Mum is waiting at the door. She sees Bruno. She sees the children. She sees the mud. “Oh no,” she says. “Bruno needs a bath.”

Bruno hört das Wort. Bad! Er läuft sofort weg. Er läuft ins Haus, durch die Küche und ins Wohnzimmer.

Bruno hears the word. Bath! He runs away at once. He runs into the house, through the kitchen and into the living room.

„Stopp! Bruno! Nicht auf das Sofa!“

“Stop! Bruno! Not on the sofa!”

Zu spät. Bruno liegt auf dem Sofa. Das Sofa ist weiß. Oder nein: Das Sofa ist jetzt nicht mehr weiß.

Too late. Bruno is lying on the sofa. The sofa is white. Or no: the sofa isn’t white any more.
