Ein Schneemann für Oma

Es ist Winter. Es schneit. Der Garten ist weiß, das Dach ist weiß, und die Straße ist auch weiß.

It is winter. It is snowing. The garden is white, the roof is white, and the street is white too.

Sophie und ihr Bruder Max sind bei Oma. Oma wohnt in einem kleinen Haus in einem Dorf. Sophie ist neun. Max ist sechs.

Sophie and her brother Max are at Grandma’s. Grandma lives in a small house in a village. Sophie is nine. Max is six.

Oma liebt Schnee. Jeden Winter baut sie mit Sophie und Max einen Schneemann. Aber heute ist Oma krank. Sie hat eine Erkältung. Sie liegt im Bett und hustet.

Grandma loves snow. Every winter she builds a snowman with Sophie and Max. But today Grandma is ill. She has a cold. She is lying in bed, coughing.

„So viel Schnee“, sagt Oma. Sie sieht aus dem Fenster. „Und ich muss im Bett bleiben. Der Arzt sagt nein.“

“So much snow,” says Grandma. She looks out of the window. “And I have to stay in bed. The doctor says no.”

Sophie und Max gehen in die Küche. Max ist traurig. „Oma kann nicht in den Schnee.“

Sophie and Max go into the kitchen. Max is sad. “Grandma can’t go out in the snow.”

Sophie denkt nach. Dann lacht sie. „Oma kann nicht in den Schnee. Aber der Schnee kann zu Oma kommen!“

Sophie thinks. Then she laughs. “Grandma can’t go out in the snow. But the snow can come to Grandma!”

„Schnee im Bett?“, fragt Max. „Das ist kalt. Und nass.“

“Snow in the bed?” asks Max. “That’s cold. And wet.”

„Nein, nein. Komm mit! Ich habe einen Plan.“

“No, no. Come with me! I have a plan.”

Sie ziehen die Jacken an, die Mützen und die Handschuhe. Sie gehen in den Garten. Vor dem Fenster von Oma ist viel Schnee. Sehr viel Schnee.

They put on their coats, their hats and their gloves. They go into the garden. In front of Grandma’s window there is lots of snow. A great deal of snow.

„Wir bauen einen Schneemann“, sagt Sophie. „Genau hier. Vor dem Fenster. Dann sieht Oma den Schneemann den ganzen Tag.“

“We’ll build a snowman,” says Sophie. “Right here. In front of the window. Then Grandma can see the snowman all day.”
