하지만 물병은 높고 입구가 좁아서, 까마귀는 아무리 애를 써도 물에 부리를 닿게 할 수 없었습니다. 가엾은 까마귀는 목말라 죽을 것만 같았습니다.

But the pitcher was high and had a narrow neck, and no matter how he tried, the Crow could not reach the water. The poor thing felt as if he must die of thirst.

그때 좋은 생각이 떠올랐습니다. 까마귀는 작은 조약돌을 주워 물병 속에 하나씩 떨어뜨렸습니다. 조약돌이 들어갈 때마다 물은 조금씩 차올랐고, 마침내 까마귀가 마실 수 있을 만큼 물이 올라왔습니다.

Then an idea came to him. Picking up some small pebbles, he dropped them into the pitcher one by one. With each pebble the water rose a little higher until at last it was near enough so he could drink.
