다음 날, 그 가죽을 뒤집어쓴 늑대는 양들 틈에 섞여 목초지를 거닐었다. 곧 어린 양 한 마리가 늑대를 졸졸 따라다녔고, 늑대는 그 양을 재빨리 유인해 데려가 잡아먹었다.
The next day, dressed in the skin, the Wolf strolled into the pasture with the Sheep. Soon a little Lamb was following him about and was quickly led away to slaughter.
그날 저녁, 늑대는 양 떼와 함께 우리로 들어갔다. 그런데 공교롭게도 그날 저녁 양치기가 양고기 국을 먹고 싶어 칼을 들고 우리로 향했다. 그곳에서 양치기가 가장 먼저 손을 대어 죽인 것은 바로 늑대였다.
That evening the Wolf entered the fold with the flock. But it happened that the Shepherd took a fancy for mutton broth that very evening, and, picking up a knife, went to the fold. There the first he laid hands on and killed was the Wolf.
악한 자는 종종 자신의 속임수 때문에 화를 입는다.
