Lena are șapte ani. Ea are o pisică. Pe pisică o cheamă Mimi. Mimi este mică și gri. Ea are lăbuțe albe.
Lena is seven years old. She has a cat. The cat is called Mimi. Mimi is small and grey, and she has white paws.
Dar Mimi nu mai este singură. Mimi are patru pui. Puii au acum opt săptămâni. Ei sunt mici, rotunzi și foarte neastâmpărați.
But Mimi is not alone any more. Mimi has four babies. The babies are eight weeks old now. They are small, round and very cheeky.
Lena has a name for each baby. The white kitten is called Snow. The black kitten is called Night. The grey kitten is called Mouse. And the grey kitten with the white paws is called Mini. Mini is like Mimi, only smaller.
În fiecare dimineață, cinci pisici vin acum în camera Lenei. Ele sar pe pat. „Miau! Miau! Miau! Miau! Miau!” Atunci Lena se ridică. Repede.
Every morning five cats come into Lena’s room now. They jump onto the bed. “Miaow! Miaow! Miaow! Miaow! Miaow!” Then Lena gets up. Quickly.
The babies play all day. Snow plays with Dad’s socks. Night plays with the newspaper. Mouse sleeps in the flowerpot. And Mini? Mini hides. Mini is very good at hiding, like Mimi.
Seara, tata stă pe canapea. El are o pisică pe cap, o pisică pe burtă și o pisică în buzunar. El se uită la Lena.
In the evening Dad sits on the sofa. He has a cat on his head, a cat on his tummy and a cat in his pocket. He looks at Lena.
„Lena, cinci pisici sunt prea multe. Puii sunt acum destul de mari. Ei au nevoie de o casă nouă”.
“Lena, five cats are too many. The babies are big enough now. They need a new home.”
Lena este tristă. Dar ea știe: tata are dreptate. Casa este prea mică pentru cinci pisici.
Lena is sad. But she knows Dad is right. The house is too small for five cats.
„Bine”, spune ea încet. „Dar puii merg numai la prieteni”.
“Okay,” she says quietly. “But the babies only go to friends.”
