Η Λένα είναι επτά ετών. Έχει μια γάτα. Η γάτα λέγεται Μίμι. Η Μίμι είναι μικρή και γκρι. Έχει άσπρες πατούσες.

Lena is seven years old. She has a cat. The cat is called Mimi. Mimi is small and grey. She has white paws.

Κάθε πρωί η Μίμι έρχεται στο δωμάτιο της Λένας. Πηδάει πάνω στο κρεβάτι και λέει: «Νιάου!» Μετά η Λένα σηκώνεται.

Every morning Mimi comes into Lena’s room. She jumps onto the bed and says, “Miaow!” Then Lena gets up.

Αλλά σήμερα όλα είναι διαφορετικά. Σήμερα η Μίμι δεν έρχεται. Η Λένα ξυπνάει μόνη της. Το κρεβάτι είναι άδειο. Κανένα «νιάου». Τίποτα.

But today everything is different. Today Mimi doesn’t come. Lena wakes up alone. The bed is empty. No “miaow”. Nothing.

«Μίμι;», φωνάζει η Λένα. «Μίμι, πού είσαι;»

“Mimi?” calls Lena. “Mimi, where are you?”

Η Λένα ψάχνει στην κουζίνα. Η μαμά πίνει καφέ. «Μαμά, πού είναι η Μίμι;» «Δεν ξέρω», λέει η μαμά. «Ίσως στον κήπο;»

Lena looks in the kitchen. Mum is drinking coffee. “Mum, where is Mimi?” “I don’t know,” says Mum. “Maybe in the garden?”

Η Λένα πάει στον κήπο. Το γρασίδι είναι υγρό. Ένα πουλί κάθεται στο δέντρο. Αλλά η Μίμι δεν είναι εκεί.

Lena goes into the garden. The grass is wet. A bird is sitting in the tree. But Mimi isn’t there.

«Μίμι! Μίμι!» Η Λένα φωνάζει δυνατά. Το πουλί πετάει μακριά. Αλλά καμία γάτα δεν έρχεται.

“Mimi! Mimi!” Lena calls loudly. The bird flies away. But no cat comes.

Η Λένα γυρίζει πίσω στο σπίτι. Ψάχνει κάτω από τον καναπέ. Εκεί είναι μια μπάλα. Εκεί είναι μια κάλτσα. Εκεί είναι ένα παλιό μπισκότο. Αλλά δεν είναι καμία γάτα εκεί.

Lena goes back into the house. She looks under the sofa. There is a ball. There is a sock. There is an old biscuit. But there is no cat.

Ψάχνει πίσω από την ντουλάπα. Εκεί έχει σκόνη. Πολλή σκόνη. Η Λένα φτερνίζεται. «Άψου!» Αλλά δεν είναι καμία γάτα εκεί.

She looks behind the wardrobe. There is dust. Lots of dust. Lena has to sneeze. “Atchoo!” But there is no cat.

Ο μπαμπάς έρχεται στο σαλόνι. «Λένα, τι κάνεις εκεί κάτω;» «Ψάχνω τη Μίμι. Η Μίμι λείπει!»

Dad comes into the living room. “Lena, what are you doing down there?” “I’m looking for Mimi. Mimi is gone!”

Ο μπαμπάς ψάχνει επίσης. Ψάχνει στο μπάνιο. Ψάχνει στο γκαράζ. Ψάχνει ακόμα και στο αυτοκίνητο. Πουθενά η Μίμι.

Dad looks too. He looks in the bathroom. He looks in the garage. He even looks in the car. No Mimi.
