La Petite Fille aux allumettes

Il faisait terriblement froid et il commençait à faire sombre en cette dernière soirée de l’année, et la neige tombait à gros flocons. Dans le froid et l’obscurité, une pauvre petite fille, la tête nue et les pieds nus, errait dans les rues.

It was terribly cold and nearly dark on the last evening of the old year, and the snow was falling fast. In the cold and the darkness, a poor little girl, with bare head and naked feet, roamed through the streets.

Il est vrai qu’elle avait une paire de chaussons quand elle avait quitté la maison, mais ils ne lui étaient pas d’une grande utilité.
