Bramka numer dwanaście
Gate twelve
Była piąta rano. Helga Berg stała na lotnisku w Oslo. Miała dużą niebieską walizkę i małą czerwoną torebkę.
It was five o’clock in the morning. Helga Berg stood in the airport in Oslo. She had a big blue suitcase and a small red bag.
Helga miała pięćdziesiąt osiem lat. Mieszkała w Bergen, na zachodzie Norwegii. Dzisiaj miała bilet do Bangkoku.
Helga was fifty-eight. She lived in Bergen, in the west of Norway. Today she had a ticket to Bangkok.
To była jej pierwsza samotna podróż. Jej mąż zmarł dwa lata temu. Zawsze podróżowali razem.
It was her first trip alone. Her husband died two years ago. They always travelled together.
Przy stanowisku odprawy uśmiechnęła się do niej młoda kobieta. „Dzień dobry. Dokąd pani dzisiaj leci?”
At the check-in desk, a young woman smiled at her. “Good morning. Where are you going today?”
„Do Bangkoku” – powiedziała Helga. „W Tajlandii”. Jej głos był bardzo cichy.
“Bangkok,” said Helga. “In Thailand.” Her voice was very small.
„Czy mogę prosić o pani paszport?”
“Can I see your passport, please?”
Helga podała jej paszport. Kobieta spojrzała na zdjęcie, a potem na Helgę. „Dziękuję. Proszę postawić walizkę tutaj”.
Helga gave her the passport. The woman looked at the photo, then at Helga. “Thank you. Please put your suitcase here.”
Helga postawiła walizkę. „W porządku” – powiedziała kobieta. „Czy chciałaby pani miejsce przy oknie?”
Helga put the suitcase down. “That’s fine,” said the woman. “Would you like a window seat?”
„Tak, poproszę. Chciałabym wszystko widzieć”.
“Yes, please. I’d like to see everything.”
„Oto pani karta pokładowa. Bramka numer dwanaście. Lot odlatuje o siódmej”.
“Here is your boarding pass. Gate twelve. The flight leaves at seven.”
Helga schowała kartę pokładową i paszport do czerwonej torebki. Zamknęła torebkę ostrożnie.
Helga put the boarding pass and the passport in her red bag. She closed the bag carefully.
Przy bramce numer dwanaście usiadła przy dużym oknie. Na zewnątrz było jeszcze ciemno. Na dworze padał śnieg.
At gate twelve, she sat down by the big window. It was still dark outside. Snow fell outside.
O wpół do siódmej mężczyzna powiedział przez głośniki: „Lot 412 do Bangkoku jest opóźniony. Nowa godzina to dziewiąta”.
At half past six, a man spoke over the speakers. “Flight 412 to Bangkok has a delay. The new time is nine o’clock.”
