Sophie’nin Sırrı

Cuma

Friday

Cuma. Satış günü.

Friday. The day of the sale.

Saat dokuzda Sophie hazır. Beyaz ceket, kırmızı ruj, koltuğunun altında mavi dosya var. Salonda Nonna’nın eski aynasında kendine bakıyor.

At nine o’clock, Sophie is ready. White blazer, red lipstick, the blue folder under her arm. She looks at herself in Nonna’s old mirror in the hall.

Sophie: Noter saat on birde bekliyor. Marco da geliyor. Geç kalma, sevgilim.

Sophie: The notary is waiting at eleven. Marco is coming too. Don’t be late, darling.

“Beş mektup, Sophie. Daha beş mektup var. Nonna yazdı: Son mektuptan önce satma.”

“Five letters, Sophie. There are still five letters. Nonna wrote: don’t sell before the last one.”

Sophie: Tom. Bunlar yaşlı bir kadının mektupları. Buradaki para iki buçuk milyon avro.

Sophie: Tom. They are letters from an old woman. This is two and a half million euros.

Rujunu küçük bir tık sesiyle kapatıyor.

She closes her lipstick with a little click.

İki kahve yapıyorum ve Elena’yı arıyorum. Nonna’nın küçük ofisinde, kutuların arasında yerde oturuyor.

I make two coffees and look for Elena. She is in Nonna’s little office, on the floor, between cardboard boxes.

Elena: Ofisi topluyorum. Marco’nun adamları için. Son misafirler pazar günü gidiyor.

Elena: I’m packing the office. For Marco’s people. The last guests leave on Sunday.

“Elena, henüz imza atmadım.”

“Elena, I haven’t signed yet.”

Elena: Ama atacaksın. Saat on birde.

Elena: But you will. At eleven.

Kahveyi alıyor. Bana bakmıyor. En üstteki kutunun üzerinde gölün eski bir fotoğrafı ters duruyor.

She takes the coffee. She doesn’t look at me. On the top box lies an old photo of the lake, face down.
