Grandpa and the Phone

Jonas is eight. He is at Grandpa’s every Wednesday. Grandpa is old, but funny. He has white hair and glasses.

Jonas berumur delapan tahun. Dia ada di rumah Kakek setiap hari Rabu. Kakek sudah tua, tapi lucu. Dia punya rambut putih dan kacamata.

Today is Wednesday. Jonas rings the bell. Grandpa opens the door. In his hand he has a small black box. He doesn’t look happy.

Hari ini hari Rabu. Jonas membunyikan bel. Kakek membuka pintu. Di tangannya ada sebuah kotak hitam kecil. Dia terlihat tidak senang.

“Hello, Jonas. Look. This is a present from your mum. A phone! But I don’t understand it. Will you help me?”

“Halo, Jonas. Coba lihat. Ini hadiah dari mamamu. Sebuah ponsel! Tapi aku tidak mengerti ponsel ini. Kamu mau membantuku?”

“Sure, Grandpa!” Jonas sits next to Grandpa on the sofa. He opens the box. The phone is new and shiny.

“Tentu saja, Kakek!” Jonas duduk di samping Kakek di sofa. Dia membuka kotak itu. Ponsel itu baru dan berkilau.

“Phone calls first,” says Jonas. “You press here. Then you call Mum.”

“Pertama, menelepon,” kata Jonas. “Kamu menekan tombol di sini. Lalu kamu menelepon Mama.”

Grandpa presses. It rings. Then a voice says: “Pizzeria Roma, good afternoon!”

Kakek menekan tombol. Ponsel berdering. Lalu sebuah suara berkata: “Pizzeria Roma, selamat siang!”

Grandpa’s eyes go wide. “Oh! Er … Hello. A cheese pizza, please.”

Mata Kakek membelalak. “Oh! Eh … Halo. Tolong satu pizza dengan keju.”

Jonas laughs. “Grandpa! That’s not Mum!” “No,” says Grandpa. “But now we have pizza.”

Jonas tertawa. “Kakek! Itu bukan Mama!” “Bukan,” kata Kakek. “Tapi sekarang kita punya pizza.”

“Now photos,” says Jonas. “You press the button here. Click!”

“Sekarang foto,” kata Jonas. “Kamu menekan tombol di sini. Klik!”

Grandpa takes a photo. Then another photo. Then ten more photos. Jonas looks at the photos. In the first photo there is a thumb. In the second photo there is a nose. In the third photo there is the lamp.

Kakek mengambil satu foto. Lalu satu foto lagi. Lalu sepuluh foto lagi. Jonas melihat foto-foto itu. Di foto pertama ada ibu jari. Di foto kedua ada hidung. Di foto ketiga ada lampu.

“And this one?” asks Jonas. The photo is grey and fluffy. “That’s the neighbour’s cat,” says Grandpa proudly. “Her tummy.”

“Dan ini apa?”, tanya Jonas. Foto itu abu-abu dan lembut. “Itu kucing tetangga,” kata Kakek dengan bangga. “Perutnya.”
