Terms of service

DuoText turns documents you upload into parallel editions: the original and a translation, side by side, to read online or download. By creating an account or uploading a file you agree to these terms. DuoText is run by an independent developer in the European Union; you can reach us at [email protected].

Keep your login to yourself; you're responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete your account at any time by writing to us.

You keep all rights to what you upload. You confirm that you have the right to use it this way, for example because you own a copy of the book or it's in the public domain, and that translations you make are for your own personal use. Don't share or sell them. You give us only the permission we need to store, translate and show your files to you.

Please don't upload anything illegal, anything that infringes someone else's rights, or files meant to harm the service. We may remove such files and close accounts that break these rules. If you believe something on DuoText infringes your rights, write to us.

Translations are made automatically. They're usually good, but they can contain mistakes, so don't rely on them where accuracy is critical, such as legal, medical or financial documents.

• Free accounts get a monthly page allowance. Paid plans add more pages and downloads, renew automatically each month or year, and can be cancelled anytime.
• Plans are sold through Link, Stripe's checkout service, whose terms also apply to the payment. Prices include tax.
• Unused pages don't carry over to the next period. Refunds are covered by our refund policy.
• If we change the price of your plan, we'll tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies, and you can cancel before then.

We work to keep DuoText running and your files safe, but we can't promise the service will always be available or error-free, and we recommend keeping your own copy of anything important. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.

We may update these terms; if a change matters, we'll email account holders before it applies. You can stop using DuoText at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms, and if we ever shut the service down we'll give you notice and time to download your books. How we handle your data is described in our privacy policy.

These terms are governed by the law of the country where DuoText is run, without taking away the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live.
