Who we are

DuoText is run by an independent developer in the European Union, who is the controller of your personal data. For anything about your data, write to [email protected].

What we collect and why

  • Your account: email address and, if you choose, your name, so you can log in and we can reach you about your books. Needed to provide the service.
  • Your files: the documents you upload and their translations, so we can translate them and keep them in your library. Needed to provide the service.
  • Reading and usage data: your place in each book, the pages you've used and your plan. Needed to provide the service.
  • Analytics: pages visited, clicks and session recordings, only if you accept analytics in the cookie banner. Based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer.
  • Error reports: technical details when something breaks, so we can fix it. Based on our legitimate interest in a working service.
  • Feedback and emails you send us, so we can answer.

We don't sell your data, and we don't use your files to train AI models.

Payments

Plans are sold through Link, Stripe's checkout service, which handles your payment details under its own privacy policy. We never see your card number; we receive your email, your plan and whether the payment went through.

Who processes your data for us

We use a small number of service providers, each bound by a data processing agreement: hosting and database providers in the EU, file storage, an AI translation service that receives the text of the documents you translate, an email service, error monitoring and (with your consent) product analytics. Some of them are based in, or may access data from, the United States; those transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep your account, files and translations for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete them too, including the stored files, within 30 days. We keep payment records for as long as tax law requires.

Files uploaded without an account aren't linked to anyone. If you want one removed, email us its link.

Cookies and local storage

We store your login session and a few preferences (theme, reading position) in your browser. These are needed for the site to work. Analytics storage is only used if you accept it in the cookie banner.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. Write to [email protected] and we'll answer within a month. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell account holders by email before the change applies. See also our terms and refund policy.
