Ben ma sześć lat. Dzisiaj ma urodziny. Babcia jest u niego. Ma prezent dla Bena. Prezent jest długi i cienki. Co to jest?

Ben is six years old. Today is his birthday. Grandma is here. She has a present for Ben. The present is long and thin. What is it?

Ben otwiera papier. To jest parasol! Parasol jest żółty, w zielone żaby.

Ben opens the paper. It’s an umbrella! The umbrella is yellow, with green frogs.

Ben otwiera parasol. Jest duży i okrągły jak żółte słońce. „Dziękuję, babciu! Idę zaraz na dwór!”

Ben opens the umbrella. It is big and round, like a yellow sun. “Thank you, Grandma! I’m going outside right now!”

Ale na dworze świeci słońce. Niebo jest niebieskie. Nie ma deszczu. Nie ma chmury. Nic.

But outside the sun is shining. The sky is blue. No rain. Not one cloud. Nothing.

„Jutro na pewno pada deszcz”, mówi mama.

“It’s sure to rain tomorrow,” says Mum.

Ale w poniedziałek świeci słońce. We wtorek świeci słońce. W środę też świeci słońce. Wszyscy ludzie są weseli. Tylko Ben nie jest wesoły.

But on Monday the sun shines. On Tuesday the sun shines. On Wednesday the sun shines too. Everybody is happy. Only Ben is not happy.

Każdego ranka Ben patrzy przez okno. „Gdzie jest deszcz?” Każdego ranka zabiera parasol do szkoły.

Every morning Ben looks out of the window. “Where is the rain?” Every morning he takes the umbrella with him to school.

Inne dzieci śmieją się. „Ben, świeci słońce!” „Wiem”, mówi Ben. „Ale deszcz nadchodzi. Na pewno.”

The other children laugh. “Ben, the sun is shining!” “I know,” says Ben. “But the rain is coming. I’m sure.”

W czwartek Ben ogląda pogodę w telewizji. Mężczyzna w telewizji śmieje się. „Jutro: słońce, słońce, słońce!” Ben wyłącza telewizor.

On Thursday Ben watches the weather on TV. The man on TV is smiling. “Tomorrow: sun, sun, sun!” Ben turns off the TV.
