The new price

第二天早上，村里的两个男人爬上屋顶。他们常常摇头。

The next morning, two men from the village climb onto the roof. They shake their heads a lot.

苏菲在花园里找到我。她又穿着白西装外套，手里拿着新文件。

Sophie finds me in the garden. She is wearing her white blazer again, and she has new papers in her hand.

苏菲： 马可出了一个新价格。两百五十万。因为屋顶坏了。

Sophie: Marco has made a new offer. Two and a half million. Because of the roof.

“两百五十万？三天前还是四百万呢！”

“Two and a half? Three days ago it was four!”

苏菲： 三天前屋顶还没有坏。现实一点吧，汤姆。这仍然是一大笔钱。

Sophie: Three days ago, the roof was not broken. Be realistic, Tom. It’s still a lot of money.

“你昨天整晚都和他在一起，苏菲。你是谁的律师？我的还是他的？”

“You were with him all night, Sophie. Whose lawyer are you? Mine or his?”

她的脸变白了。有一秒钟，她看起来很害怕。然后她又变得很冷淡。

Her face goes white. For a second she looks afraid. Then she is cool again.

苏菲： 我就当做你没有说过这句话。

Sophie: I’m going to pretend you didn’t say that.

她走回房子里。她的鞋跟踩在石头上，发出像钟表一样的声音。

She walks back into the house. Her heels click on the stones like a clock.
