The Photo Again

Nina sits at her table with the photo.

Nina sitzt mit dem Foto an ihrem Tisch.

She looks at Grandma’s face.

Sie schaut Omas Gesicht an.

She knows that face.

Sie kennt dieses Gesicht.

She knows the white hair and the big smile.

Sie kennt die weißen Haare und das große Lächeln.

Behind Grandma’s head there is a window.

Hinter Omas Kopf ist ein Fenster.

It is very small.

Es ist sehr klein.

She takes the photo to the light.

Sie nimmt das Foto ans Licht.

There is something in it. What?

Da ist etwas darin. Was?

Nina’s eyes are tired.

Ninas Augen sind müde.

“Leo,” she says. “What is that?”

„Leo“, sagt sie. „Was ist das?“

Leo has young eyes.

Leo hat junge Augen.

His head is on the table.

Sein Kopf ist auf dem Tisch.

He looks with one eye.

Er schaut mit einem Auge.

He looks with two eyes.

Er schaut mit zwei Augen.
