Son las cuatro en punto de la tarde. La cocina está tranquila.
It is four o’clock in the afternoon. The kitchen is quiet.
Ya no hay pan en el plato.
There is no more bread on the plate.
Nina pone su llave en la mesa.
Nina puts her key on the table.
«¿Por qué?», dice.
“Why?” she says.
La abuela mira la llave.
Grandma looks at the key.
«¿Por qué qué?».
“Why what?”
«¿Por qué todo esto? ¿Una nota? ¿Un sobre? ¿Una puerta azul?».
“Why all this? A note? An envelope? A blue door?”
«Es una buena puerta».
“It is a good door.”
«¡Hay muchas puertas azules, abuela! ¡No! ¡No! ¡No!».
“There are a lot of blue doors, Grandma! No! No! No!”
«Sí».
“Yes.”
«¡Tienes un teléfono! Puedes decir: Nina, ven al hotel».
“You have a phone! You can say: Nina, come to the hotel.”
«Sí», dice la abuela. «Puedo decir eso».
“Yes,” Grandma says. “I can say that.”
Nina se levanta. Grita.
Nina stands up. She shouts.
Grita por las puertas. Grita por la lluvia y el autobús.
She shouts about the doors. She shouts about the rain and the bus.
