The bet

योनास बर्लिन में रहता है। वह उनतीस साल का है। वह फ़ोन की एक दुकान में काम करता है।

Jonas lives in Berlin. He is twenty-nine. He works in a phone shop.

योनास को पैसे पसंद हैं। लेकिन पैसों को योनास पसंद नहीं है। वे बहुत जल्दी चले जाते हैं।

Jonas likes money. But money does not like Jonas. It goes away very fast.

हर सुबह, वह चार यूरो में एक कॉफ़ी ख़रीदता है। हर दोपहर खाने में, वह एक बर्गर ख़रीदता है। हर शाम, वह अपने फ़ोन पर एक पिज़्ज़ा ख़रीदता है।

Every morning, he buys a coffee for four euros. Every day at lunch, he buys a burger. Every evening, he buys a pizza on his phone.

और रात में, वह इंटरनेट पर चीज़ें ख़रीदता है। बिल्लियों वाली जुराबें। केले के आकार का एक लैंप।

And at night, he buys things on the internet. Socks with cats on them. A lamp in the shape of a banana.

मिया उसकी फ़्लैटमेट है। उसका कमरा उसके कमरे के पास है। रसोई और गुसलख़ाना दोनों के लिए हैं।

Mia is his flatmate. She has the room next to his. The kitchen and the bathroom are for both of them.

सोमवार की सुबह, दरवाज़े पर एक बड़ा डिब्बा है। मिया उसे देखती है।

On Monday morning, there is a big box at the door. Mia looks at it.

“योनास! यह क्या है?”

“Jonas! What is this?”

“एक लैंप,” योनास कहता है। “यह एक केला है।”

“A lamp,” says Jonas. “It is a banana.”

“केले का लैंप?”

“A banana lamp?”

“यह बहुत अच्छा है। यह पीला है।”

“It is very nice. It is yellow.”

मिया फ़्रिज खोलती है। इसमें कुछ नहीं है। बस एक बहुत पुराना नींबू है।

Mia opens the fridge. There is nothing in it. Only a very old lemon.

“योनास, तुम्हारे पैसे कहाँ हैं? महीने की पाँच तारीख़ है। और फ़्रिज खाली है।”

“Jonas, where is your money? It is the fifth of the month. And the fridge is empty.”

“मेरे पैसे मेरी कॉफ़ी में हैं। और मेरे पिज़्ज़ा में हैं। और मेरे केले में हैं।”

“My money is in my coffee. And in my pizza. And in my banana.”
