Agora Você É a Cozinheira

Toda manhã, por dez semanas, Nina e a vó fazem pão juntas.

Every morning for ten weeks, Nina and Grandma make bread together.

Toda manhã a vó o come e diz uma palavra.

Every morning Grandma eats it and says one word.

“Não.”

“No.”

É uma palavra muito boa naquela cozinha. A Sara também gosta dela.

It is a very good word in that kitchen. Sara likes it too.

Hoje a vó parte o pão da Nina em dois. Ela o come devagar.

Today Grandma breaks Nina’s bread in two. She eats it slowly.

Ela come tudo. Ela não diz nada por muito tempo.

She eats all of it. She says nothing for a long time.

Então ela coloca uma chave na mesa.

Then she puts a key on the table.

Ela é pequena e velha. É a mesma chave.

It is small and old. It is the same key.

Agora tem duas chaves na mesa.

Now there are two keys on the table.

“Qual chave é esta?” Nina diz.

“Which key is this?” Nina says.

“Esta é a minha chave,” a vó diz. “Agora você é a cozinheira.”

“That is my key,” Grandma says. “Now you are the cook.”

Nina olha para a vó.

Nina looks at Grandma.

“E você?”

“And you?”

A vó olha pela janela.

Grandma looks out of the window.
