新しい男の子

エラは八さいです。小学二年生です。先生はゾマー先生です。ゾマー先生はやさしいです。

Ella is eight. She is in the second year at school. Her teacher is called Mrs Sommer. Mrs Sommer is nice.

きょうは月曜日です。エラのとなりにせきがあります。だれもいません。きょう、そこに新しい男の子がすわります。

Today is Monday. There is a free seat next to Ella. Today a new boy is sitting there.

「この子はルカです。」とゾマー先生が言います。「ルカはイタリアから来ました。きょうから、このまちの子です。まだドイツ語はわかりません。」

“This is Luca,” says Mrs Sommer. “Luca comes from Italy. He lives here now. He doesn’t speak any German yet.”

ルカのかみのけはくろいです。ジャケットはあおいです。ルカはつくえを見ます。何も言いません。

Luca has black hair and a blue jacket. He looks down at the desk. He says nothing.

エラはにっこりします。「こんにちは！わたしはエラです。」

Ella smiles. “Hello! I’m Ella.”

ルカはエラを見ます。何か言います。でも、エラはわかりません。きれいなことばです。まるでうたです。でも、イタリア語です。

Luca looks at Ella. He says something. But Ella doesn’t understand it. It sounds nice, like a song. But it is Italian.

じゅぎょうがはじまります。ゾマー先生はこくばんに書きます。子どもたちは読みます。子どもたちは書きます。ルカは何も書きません。ルカはまどの外を見ます。

The lesson begins. Mrs Sommer writes on the board. The children read. The children write. Luca writes nothing. He looks out of the window.

エラはおもいます。ルカはかなしいです。ルカは新しい子です。友だちがいません。ことばもわかりません。たいへんです。

Ella thinks: Luca is sad. He is new. He doesn’t know anyone. And he doesn’t understand anything. That’s hard.

休みじかんに、子どもたちはこうていであそびます。ルカはひとりです。かべのそばに立ちます。

At break time the children play in the playground. Luca stands alone by the wall.

エラにいいかんがえがあります。エラはかみとペンを出します。たいようをかきます。それから、たいようをゆびさします。「たいよう。」とエラが言います。

Ella has an idea. She fetches some paper and a pencil. She draws a sun. Then she points at the sun. “Sonne,” she says.

ルカはえを見ます。それから、すこしにっこりします。「ソーレ。」とルカが言います。

Luca looks at the picture. Then he smiles a little. “Sole,” he says.

「ソーレ！」とエラが言います。「たいようは、ソーレです！」

“Sole!” says Ella. “Sonne is sole!”
