Ella are opt ani. Ea merge în clasa a doua. Învățătoarea ei se numește doamna Sommer. Doamna Sommer este drăguță.
Ella is eight. She is in the second year at school. Her teacher is called Mrs Sommer. Mrs Sommer is nice.
Astăzi este luni. Lângă Ella este un loc liber. Acolo stă astăzi un băiat nou.
Today is Monday. There is a free seat next to Ella. Today a new boy is sitting there.
„Acesta este Luca”, spune doamna Sommer. „Luca vine din Italia. El locuiește acum aici. El nu vorbește încă germana.”
“This is Luca,” says Mrs Sommer. “Luca comes from Italy. He lives here now. He doesn’t speak any German yet.”
Luca are păr negru și o geacă albastră. El se uită la masă. El nu spune nimic.
Luca has black hair and a blue jacket. He looks down at the desk. He says nothing.
Ella zâmbește. „Bună! Eu sunt Ella.”
Ella smiles. “Hello! I’m Ella.”
Luca se uită la Ella. El spune ceva. Dar Ella nu înțelege. Sună frumos, ca un cântec. Dar este italiană.
Luca looks at Ella. He says something. But Ella doesn’t understand it. It sounds nice, like a song. But it is Italian.
Ora începe. Doamna Sommer scrie pe tablă. Copiii citesc. Copiii scriu. Luca nu scrie nimic. El se uită pe fereastră.
The lesson begins. Mrs Sommer writes on the board. The children read. The children write. Luca writes nothing. He looks out of the window.
Ella se gândește: Luca este trist. El este nou. El nu cunoaște pe nimeni. Și el nu înțelege nimic. Este greu.
Ella thinks: Luca is sad. He is new. He doesn’t know anyone. And he doesn’t understand anything. That’s hard.
În pauză, copiii se joacă în curte. Luca stă singur lângă perete.
At break time the children play in the playground. Luca stands alone by the wall.
Ella are o idee. Ea ia hârtie și un creion. Ea desenează un soare. Apoi ea arată spre soare. „Soare”, spune ea.
Ella has an idea. She fetches some paper and a pencil. She draws a sun. Then she points at the sun. “Sonne,” she says.
Luca se uită la desen. Apoi el zâmbește puțin. „Sole”, spune el.
Luca looks at the picture. Then he smiles a little. “Sole,” he says.
„Sole!”, spune Ella. „Soare este Sole!”
“Sole!” says Ella. “Sonne is sole!”
