Pão Fresco

Toda manhã às cinco horas, Nina está na cozinha.

Every morning at five o’clock, Nina is in the kitchen.

Está escuro e quieto.

It is dark and quiet.

Às seis horas um pássaro vem até a porta dos fundos.

At six o’clock a bird comes to the back door.

Ele é pequeno e cinza. É o pássaro da vó. Toda manhã ele come o pão da vó.

It is small and grey. It is Grandma’s bird. Every morning it eats Grandma’s bread.

Nina dá um pouco do pão dela para ele.

Nina gives it a little of her bread.

O pássaro olha para o pão. Ele olha para Nina.

The bird looks at the bread. It looks at Nina.

Ele vai embora.

It goes.

Max come o pão. Mas Max come bilhetes.

Max eats the bread. But Max eats notes.

Às sete horas, a bandeja está na cadeira.

At seven o’clock, the tray is on the chair.

Nina fecha a porta da cozinha. Ela fica atrás dela.

Nina closes the kitchen door. She stands behind it.

Ela ouve pessoas na escada. Elas não estão felizes.

She hears people on the stairs. They are not happy.

Ela ouve cadeiras. Então ela não ouve nada.

She hears chairs. Then she hears nothing.

Elas estão olhando para os pratos.

They are looking at their plates.

Elas estão comendo. Elas param de falar. Isso é muito bom.

They are eating. They stop talking. That is very good.
