Jonas tiene ocho años. Está con el abuelo cada miércoles. El abuelo es mayor, pero divertido. Cocina bien y le gusta leer historias.

Jonas is eight. Every Wednesday he is at Grandpa’s. Grandpa is old, but funny. He cooks well, and he likes reading stories.

Hoy es miércoles. Jonas toca el timbre. El abuelo abre la puerta. «¡Hola, Jonas! ¡Entra!»

Today is Wednesday. Jonas rings the bell. Grandpa opens the door. “Hello, Jonas! Come in!”

«¡Hola, abuelo! ¿Lees una historia hoy?» «Sí, con gusto», dice el abuelo. «Pero primero necesito mis gafas.»

“Hello, Grandpa! Will you read a story today?” “Yes, gladly,” says Grandpa. “But first I need my glasses.”

El abuelo busca. Busca sobre la mesa. Ahí está el periódico. Ahí hay una taza de té. Pero ahí no hay gafas.

Grandpa looks. He looks on the table. There is the newspaper. There is a cup of tea. But there are no glasses.

«Hm», dice el abuelo. «¿Dónde están mis gafas?»

“Hm,” says Grandpa. “Where are my glasses?”

Jonas también busca. Busca en la cocina. Abre la nevera. En la nevera hay leche, queso y un tomate. Pero no hay gafas.

Jonas looks too. He looks in the kitchen. He opens the fridge. In the fridge there is milk, cheese and a tomato. But no glasses.

El abuelo busca en el baño. Ahí está su cepillo de dientes. Ahí está su peine. Pero ahí no hay gafas.

Grandpa looks in the bathroom. There is his toothbrush. There is his comb. But there are no glasses.

«¿Quizás en el jardín?», pregunta Jonas. Van al jardín. Ahí está sentado el gato del vecino. El gato mira al abuelo. El abuelo mira al gato.

“Maybe in the garden?” asks Jonas. They go into the garden. The neighbour’s cat is sitting there. The cat looks at Grandpa. Grandpa looks at the cat.

«¿Tienes mis gafas?», pregunta el abuelo. El gato no dice nada. Se va.

“Have you got my glasses?” asks Grandpa. The cat says nothing. She walks away.

«Los gatos no tienen gafas, abuelo», dice Jonas. «Los gatos ven muy bien.»

“Cats don’t have glasses, Grandpa,” says Jonas. “Cats see very well.”

«Los gatos tienen suerte», dice el abuelo.

“Lucky cats,” says Grandpa.
