On Friday, her friend Carla came to the office at lunchtime. They ate sandwiches in the park across the street.
«Che cosa hai fatto lo scorso fine settimana?», ha chiesto Carla.
“What did you do last weekend?” asked Carla.
«Ho pulito l’appartamento. Ho guardato una serie. Ho lavato il gatto.»
“I cleaned the flat. I watched a series. I washed the cat.”
«Hai lavato il gatto?»
“You washed the cat?”
«Non gli è piaciuto.»
“He didn’t like it.”
Carla ha posato il suo panino. «Bia, dovresti uscire di più. Hai trentasette anni, non ottanta.»
Carla put down her sandwich. “Bia, you should go out more. You’re thirty-seven, not eighty.”
«Io esco. Vado al lavoro tutti i giorni.»
“I go out. I go to work every day.”
«Questo non è uscire. Ascolta. C’è una scuola di danza nella mia strada. Hanno un corso di forró per principianti. Perché non provi?»
“That’s not going out. Listen. There’s a dance school on my street. They have a forró class for beginners. Why don’t you try it?”
«Forró? Io? Non so ballare. Ho due piedi sinistri.»
“Forró? Me? I can’t dance. I have two left feet.”
«Tutti hanno due piedi sinistri in un corso per principianti. Per questo è un corso per principianti.»
“Everybody has two left feet in a class for beginners. That’s why it’s a class for beginners.”
