De achterdeur

Nina rent naar de deur van de keuken.

Nina runs to the kitchen door.

“Oma!” roept ze.

“Grandma!” she shouts.

Ze legt haar handen op de deur. Hij gaat niet open.

She puts her hands on the door. It doesn’t open.

“Oma! Ik ben het! Ik ben Nina!”

“Grandma! It is me! It is Nina!”

Er is niets achter de deur. Het is heel stil.

There is nothing behind the door. It is very quiet.

Ze neemt haar sleutel. Haar hand is koud.

She takes out her key. Her hand is cold.

Ze legt hem bij de deur. Hij gaat er niet in.

She puts it to the door. It doesn’t go in.

Niet deze deur.

Not this door.

Ze kent die woorden. Ze kent ze van de eerste dag.

She knows those words. She knows them from the first day.

De deur van het hotel gaat open. Mevrouw Berg komt binnen met regen op haar jas.

The door of the hotel opens. Mrs Berg comes in with rain on her coat.

Ze kijkt naar Nina. Ze kijkt naar de sleutel.

She looks at Nina. She looks at the key.

Ze kijkt naar de telefoon op de balie.

She looks at the telephone on the desk.

“Die deur is dicht,” zegt ze.

“That door is closed,” she says.

“Mijn oma is in uw keuken!”

“My grandma is in your kitchen!”
