A Porta dos Fundos

Nina corre até a porta da cozinha.

Nina runs to the kitchen door.

“Vó!” ela grita.

“Grandma!” she shouts.

Ela coloca as mãos na porta. Ela não abre.

She puts her hands on the door. It doesn’t open.

“Vó! Sou eu! Sou a Nina!”

“Grandma! It is me! It is Nina!”

Não tem nada atrás da porta. Está muito quieto.

There is nothing behind the door. It is very quiet.

Ela pega a chave dela. A mão dela está fria.

She takes out her key. Her hand is cold.

Ela a coloca na porta. Ela não entra.

She puts it to the door. It doesn’t go in.

Esta porta não.

Not this door.

Ela conhece essas palavras. Ela as conhece do primeiro dia.

She knows those words. She knows them from the first day.

A porta do hotel abre. A Sra. Berg entra com chuva no casaco.

The door of the hotel opens. Mrs Berg comes in with rain on her coat.

Ela olha para Nina. Ela olha para a chave.

She looks at Nina. She looks at the key.

Ela olha para o telefone no balcão.

She looks at the telephone on the desk.

“Essa porta está fechada,” ela diz.

“That door is closed,” she says.

“A minha vó está na sua cozinha!”

“My grandma is in your kitchen!”
