Arka Kapı

Nina mutfak kapısına koşuyor.

Nina runs to the kitchen door.

“Babaanne!” diye bağırıyor.

“Grandma!” she shouts.

Ellerini kapıya koyuyor. Açılmıyor.

She puts her hands on the door. It doesn’t open.

“Babaanne! Benim! Nina!”

“Grandma! It is me! It is Nina!”

Kapının arkasında hiçbir şey yok. Çok sessiz.

There is nothing behind the door. It is very quiet.

Anahtarını alıyor. Eli soğuk.

She takes out her key. Her hand is cold.

Onu kapıya koyuyor. Girmiyor.

She puts it to the door. It doesn’t go in.

Bu kapı değil.

Not this door.

O kelimeleri tanıyor. İlk günden tanıyor.

She knows those words. She knows them from the first day.

Otelin kapısı açılıyor. Bayan Berg paltosunda yağmurla içeri geliyor.

The door of the hotel opens. Mrs Berg comes in with rain on her coat.

Nina’ya bakıyor. Anahtara bakıyor.

She looks at Nina. She looks at the key.

Masanın üstündeki telefona bakıyor.

She looks at the telephone on the desk.

“O kapı kapalı,” diyor.

“That door is closed,” she says.

“Benim babaannem sizin mutfağınızda!”

“My grandma is in your kitchen!”
