It is spring. The sun is shining. Lina and her little brother Noah are at the playground. The playground is in the park, next to a pond.
Es ist Frühling. Die Sonne scheint. Lina und ihr kleiner Bruder Noah sind auf dem Spielplatz. Der Spielplatz ist im Park, neben einem Teich.
Lina is on the swing. Noah is in the sand. He is building a castle. Then he shouts, “Lina! Come quickly! There’s a bird!”
Lina ist auf der Schaukel. Noah ist im Sand. Er baut eine Burg. Dann ruft er: „Lina! Komm schnell! Da ist ein Vogel!“
Lina comes. A little bird is sitting in the sand. It is yellow and brown and very soft. It has a flat beak.
Lina kommt. Im Sand sitzt ein kleiner Vogel. Er ist gelb und braun und ganz weich. Er hat einen flachen Schnabel.
“That’s not just a bird,” says Lina. “It’s a duck. A baby duck!”
„Das ist kein Vogel“, sagt Lina. „Das ist eine Ente. Eine Babyente!“
The little duck says, “Peep! Peep!”
Die kleine Ente sagt: „Piep! Piep!“
“Where is its mummy?” asks Noah. Lina looks to the left. She looks to the right. No mummy. Only children, mothers, fathers and a dog.
„Wo ist die Mama?“, fragt Noah. Lina sieht nach links. Sie sieht nach rechts. Keine Mama. Nur Kinder, Mütter, Väter und ein Hund.
The dog sees the duck. He barks. “Woof! Woof!” The duck peeps loudly. It runs to Noah and now it is sitting on his shoe.
Der Hund sieht die Ente. Er bellt. „Wau! Wau!“ Die Ente piept laut. Sie läuft zu Noah und sitzt jetzt auf seinem Schuh.
“It’s scared,” says Lina. “We have to find its mummy.”
„Sie hat Angst“, sagt Lina. „Wir müssen die Mama finden.“
“Its mummy is sure to be at the pond,” says Noah. “Ducks live at the pond.”
„Die Mama ist bestimmt am Teich“, sagt Noah. „Enten wohnen am Teich.“
Lina nods. “Good. Let’s go to the pond.”
Lina nickt. „Gut. Wir gehen zum Teich.“
