Es primavera. El sol brilla. Lina y su hermano pequeño Noah están en el parque. El parque está al lado de un estanque.

It is spring. The sun is shining. Lina and her little brother Noah are at the playground. The playground is in the park, next to a pond.

Lina está en el columpio. Noah está en la arena. Él construye un castillo. Entonces grita: «¡Lina! ¡Ven rápido! ¡Hay un pájaro!»

Lina is on the swing. Noah is in the sand. He is building a castle. Then he shouts, “Lina! Come quickly! There’s a bird!”

Lina viene. En la arena hay un pájaro pequeño. Es amarillo y marrón y muy suave. Tiene un pico plano.

Lina comes. A little bird is sitting in the sand. It is yellow and brown and very soft. It has a flat beak.

«Eso no es un pájaro», dice Lina. «Es un pato. ¡Un pato bebé!»

“That’s not just a bird,” says Lina. “It’s a duck. A baby duck!”

El patito dice: «¡Pío! ¡Pío!»

The little duck says, “Peep! Peep!”

«¿Dónde está su mamá?», pregunta Noah. Lina mira a la izquierda. Mira a la derecha. No hay mamá. Solo niños, madres, padres y un perro.

“Where is its mummy?” asks Noah. Lina looks to the left. She looks to the right. No mummy. Only children, mothers, fathers and a dog.

El perro ve al patito. Ladra. «¡Guau! ¡Guau!» El patito pía fuerte. Corre hacia Noah y ahora está sentado en su zapato.

The dog sees the duck. He barks. “Woof! Woof!” The duck peeps loudly. It runs to Noah and now it is sitting on his shoe.

«Tiene miedo», dice Lina. «Tenemos que encontrar a su mamá.»

“It’s scared,” says Lina. “We have to find its mummy.”

«La mamá seguro está en el estanque», dice Noah. «Los patos viven en el estanque.»

“Its mummy is sure to be at the pond,” says Noah. “Ducks live at the pond.”

Lina asiente. «Bien. Vamos al estanque.»

Lina nods. “Good. Let’s go to the pond.”
