Este primăvară. Soarele strălucește. Lina și fratele ei mic Noah sunt pe locul de joacă. Locul de joacă este în parc, lângă un iaz.

It is spring. The sun is shining. Lina and her little brother Noah are at the playground. The playground is in the park, next to a pond.

Lina este pe leagăn. Noah este în nisip. El construiește un castel. Apoi strigă: „Lina! Vino repede! Acolo este o pasăre!”

Lina is on the swing. Noah is in the sand. He is building a castle. Then he shouts, “Lina! Come quickly! There’s a bird!”

Lina vine. În nisip stă o pasăre mică. Ea este galbenă și maro și foarte moale. Ea are un cioc plat.

Lina comes. A little bird is sitting in the sand. It is yellow and brown and very soft. It has a flat beak.

„Aceasta nu este o pasăre”, spune Lina. „Aceasta este o rață. O rățușcă!”

“That’s not just a bird,” says Lina. “It’s a duck. A baby duck!”

Rățușca spune: „Piu! Piu!”

The little duck says, “Peep! Peep!”

„Unde este mama?”, întreabă Noah. Lina se uită la stânga. Ea se uită la dreapta. Nicio mamă. Doar copii, mame, tați și un câine.

“Where is its mummy?” asks Noah. Lina looks to the left. She looks to the right. No mummy. Only children, mothers, fathers and a dog.

Câinele vede rățușca. El latră. „Ham! Ham!” Rățușca piuie tare. Ea fuge la Noah și stă acum pe pantoful lui.

The dog sees the duck. He barks. “Woof! Woof!” The duck peeps loudly. It runs to Noah and now it is sitting on his shoe.

„Îi este frică”, spune Lina. „Noi trebuie să găsim mama.”

“It’s scared,” says Lina. “We have to find its mummy.”

„Mama este sigur la iaz”, spune Noah. „Rațele locuiesc la iaz.”

“Its mummy is sure to be at the pond,” says Noah. “Ducks live at the pond.”

Lina dă din cap. „Bine. Noi mergem la iaz.”

Lina nods. “Good. Let’s go to the pond.”
